Not sure how I feel about the moving - on the one hand it is hard for me to care much, on the other hand I guess I wouldn't want it to become a standard practice.

Maybe my gut reaction of 'what does it say about a person that they will move where they love to follow political opportunity' will have to suffice.

McSally will probably be in the senate by the time the midterms roll around and if so, Lean D. If it is Kirkpatrick vs McSally that's probably tilt R / Lean R if the carpet bagging angle is as big of a deal to others as the people in this thread seem to find it.

Arizona is full of people who moved from somewhere else and that includes lots of people who moved from one part of the state to another. Moving to another district is hardly as bad as enthusiastically supporting a health care bill that would take insurance from millions, so I think that will be the prevailing issue.

Translation: It's ok when Democrats do things we normally wouldn't like.

Carpetbagging is a fake issue regardless of who does it.

Eh. Trey Hollingsworth carpetbagged. And it was bad. I don't care if you've lived somewhere only a few years if you put down roots, but interstate district shopping is bad.

That said, I can't comment on AZ. I just generally assume that the Sunbelt is one long, identical suburban housing development, and no one can tell where anyone lives anyway.

If you want Carpetbagging - McSally was born in Rhode Island and Kirkpatrick was born in Arizona.
Your point? Scott Brown was born in New Hampshire. Jeanne Shaheen was born in Missouri. Who was the carpetbagger in 2014?

Then.... was Scott Brown a carpetbagger as Senator from Massachusetts? 🤔

Fwiw, Kirkpatrick's predecessor in AZ-01, Paul Gosar, moved to a neighboring district after redistricting for the 2012 election. This seems like it's commom in the state.

Scott Brown was born in ME if we're being technical.

Edit: Wow, did you know that he was made US Ambassador to New Zealand and Samoa? I sure as heck didn't.

And Kirkpatrick's first predecessor, Rick Renzi, also carpetbagged (from New Jersey) IIRC.

This is Arizona. 80% of the state are carpetbaggers of one form or another.
