Executing a mentally disabled black man for political points, championing and signing a draconian and deeply racist crime bill, co-opting the Republican Party on everything from pro-corporate trade agreements and welfare "reform" to Wall Street deregulation and federal budget austerity, taking credit for a "great" economy that he had little to do with other than feeding the deregulation frenzy (which benefited the corporate wrecker class, naturally), and being the epitome of used-car salesman political pandering was all great politics imo. Very brave for a Democratic candidate and President in the 1990s.

I do believe Clinton was sincerely a progressive, who saw the third way-style run as the best way to accomplish something meaningful in the more conservative age. However, his second term in particular was quite spineless and proved to be a disaster in many ways in long term (like signing into a law repeal of Glass-Stegal). During that time, he was clearly more interested in enjoying the post.

Before 1994 FF, After 1994 HP.

After '94 is what we have to live with unfortunately, so that's my vote.

Basically, he was a younger and more effective Ronald Reagan.
