Personally I find it arrogant, condescending, and offensive.

I find the concept hilarious. From personal experience, it's one of the many """problems""" that shallow, pampered, upper-middle class women complain about. I don't know why they do it; maybe it's because they don't have any real/important problems to deal with.

Instead of wanting to stir public outrage over the angle of my legs on the Metro, why don't you just observe the true injustices? Income inequality is rising to gilded-age levels, working class wages have remained more or less stagnant for the better part of the last thirty years, and Millenials will be the first generation in American history to live worse off than their predecessors, despite the information technology boom.

I generally keep my legs between 5-60°, or π/36-π/3 rad, by the way. This is just one guy's take on the matter, so feel free to disagree.

I mean, as a man, I wouldn't mind if women did it too.

Don't ride the subway / train that often in the US - people mover in Detroit once a year maybe.

Japan has women only cars because of more serious groping incidents & blatant sexual harassment.

Manspreading is like microaggressions i.e. overdoing it

I have not used any public transport since my school years some 12 years ago, but I generally used to "man-spread", yes (natural, normal).

The attack on "manspreading" is just a made-up product of politically correct people who have no real life.

I'm assuming most of you rarely take public transport. It's actually quite annoying when someone takes up your personal space, like where you are in a crowded carriage and someone doesn't take their backpack off.

Men do manspreading, but woman do the whole eating pungent food that stinks up the whole carriage thing, so it's swings and roundabouts.

While it can be an asshole move, I'm pretty certain that there are more pressing problems our societies are facing today.

That has nothing to do with "creepy" ... 80% of men are "manspreading".

The dumbest controversy. However, freedom gesture overall. If you have the room, definitely do it.

My hot take is that it can be both wrong and not a particularly big issue. Then again, the right usually defends themselves these days with the argument that while they're wrong, nothing matters. It's pretty sad when that's your only line of defense.

Nothing is more annoying than bumping knees with some guy who's lounging around on public transport like it's his personal recliner.

And yeah, sometimes women do it with their purses, but that's not as common nor as annnoying.

I intentionally take up as much space on public transit as I physically can.

I've had more than one pair of pants split in the seat due to my propensity to sit Indian style, and to contradict the gender theorists who would claim that I am just asserting my masculinity or some such, I do it even more in the privacy of my living room. Sitting with your legs apart is just way more comfortable. As long as you aren't blocking empty seats, who care?

This is only a problem if you're some New York elitist who rides the subway.

Be a normal person and move out to socal and drive a car. Get stuck in traffic on the 405 like a normal person.
