The second place finisher in the 2016 Republican primary. Not a fan.

The biggest FF in the Senate.  A courageous defender of liberty, both as as Texas's solicitor general and now in the Senate.  A watchdog against big government, a protector of life, and a stalwart for conservative judges.

Would have been an amazing President, and I hope he runs again in the future.  His nickname should be Terrific Ted.

Thought for sure he was Solicitor General.

I hated him, then I liked him, now I'm ambivalent. I mean, he's clearly slimy, which is a quality I can respect, and he probably speaks the Evangelical "language" better than just about any politician in history, which I like, but sometimes he is just disgusting.

Whoops - you're right.  I had confused my terms there, but the point is I greatly appreciate the work he did arguing cases before the Supreme Court on behalf of the state of Texas.

I thought you were fiscally moderate. Cruz is very fiscally extreme.

I'm not as right-wing as Cruz on economic issues, sure, but I appreciate the fact that he doesn't bend on principle due to criticism (including from his own party), is a staunch social conservative, has fought the good fight in front of the Supreme Court, and is a big proponent of shifting taxes more toward consumption instead of income, a move I am a big fan of.

I voted FF. I've been conflicted on him, but he's a FF overall.

HP. He was key to the government shutdown in 2013, was key in blocking Obama's appointment of Merrick Garland to the Supreme Court, is the most slimy  person currently in politics (which is saying something, there are plenty of slimy politicians in all levels of politics), and has a very punchable  face to boot.
