Given the choice of course libertarianism.

It is preferable to participate in the community - that way you can voluntarily exchange your ideas, talents, and services with a wider range of people. It does not violate ANY principle of individual liberty.  Voluntary & free association is a key aspect of all aspects of a libertarian society including forming groups and associations that maybe are limited in interest and scope and who they serve. It goes along with the key concepts of private property.

However when the ill-defined 'common good' or 'society' in aggregate trumps the rights of individuals and association and provision of services is under compulsion of the state that is when I will side with the individual.
