OECD just released its new data on obesity rates around the world and, while all areas and regions saw increases in fatness, it increased more in the US, and the gap is growing between us and other comparable nations.

The interesting thing is that mexico and eastern european nations, with populations much poorer on avg than our poorest, have lower obesity rates.

Mexico was actually "ahead" of the US a couple years ago. Looks like we made a comeback.

What kind of silly question is this ?
Have you been to Mexico ?
There are many, many people who live in severe poverty in Mexico.
Many times the people construct makeshift homes from plywood, cheap sheets of metal/steal and cardboard (sometimes along the road, on property that is not their own).
They barely have enough to eat to stay alive, yet alone eat to become "obese."
Yes there is poverty in every nation, but in Mexico it is everywhere.

This. I lived in Indiana for 2 years and, in my opinion, American food is not terribly unhealthy in comparison with other countries. The point is some people in the US tend to eat A LOT.
