It actually happens quite often in politics.

By the way, the article states the "hurting" would come in the form of stricter environmental regulations.

The #Resist crowd will now be fighting against environmental regulations in Alaska.

Honest question, are you a teenager?

This is one of the oldest tricks in the playbook.

Does that somehow mean it's not abhorrent?

While you have a point, he's also right in this case.

Considering what the penalties for alaska would be, what this proves is that  it's possible to goad Trump into inadvertently doing good things if you make him mad.

But how often does a president makes these threats publicly?

Never, because doing so is proof of abuse the powers of his office. That it's for reasons of ego instead of personal financial gain doesn't really change what it is. Trump and Zinke both need to go, before the US takes any more steps down the banana republic road.

Every Administration does things like this, but only the Trump Administration is incompetent enough to let it become public knowledge. Oh well, at least his punishment for the state will be good for the environment.

So, maybe he will govern well if we trigger him enough?

This President now wants to purge his Party. It may be safer to become a Democrat.

Oh yeah, just what the Democratic Party needs. More conservative, pro-business types.

Bridge to Nowhere-gate? 😈

Just imagine if Christie had become Interior Secretary? Not that he could have. You have to go back to Morton in the Nixon/Ford cabinet for the last non-westerner Interior Secretary. And Krug in the Truman cabinet is the second most recent.

Strange comment.  Murkowski is a Republican, after all.

Wow. I say without an ounce of sarcasm you just blew my mind. That's.... a really accurate insight.

Cool way to find the silver lining here I got to say. Smiley

Lisa Murkowski is the chair of the Senate Energy Committee. Anyone want to guess what happens when the Interior Secretary threatens the Chair of the Senate Energy Committee? The hearings for their nominees gets delayed.
