I'll let their messages speak for themselves. Look at the fifth item from the bottom in the first image, and read their "apology" in the second.

Their best zinger: "We agree that having a healthy mixture of different cultures and ethnicities is valuable. But we're not comfortable with the idea of selling our university to the highest foreign bidder."

As if that's how universities work, lol.

Just because you have a high student base from X country, doesn't mean that X country owns it in any measure.

That part is true but many universities have been bringing over students from overseas, charging them higher tuition (in effect scamming them) to make up for state budget cuts

^ And it's not, in and of itself, bigoted to be plssed about that.  A lot of people in Iowa City - known ground zero for deplorables, LOL - are angry because Iowa is letting in so many out of state kids because they pay so much more in tuition while more instate kids are getting rejected ... as a taxpayer-funded state university, I'd have to say that's pretty shltty...

The University of Illinois for the the people of ILLINOIS.  There is nothing wrong with admitting a diverse mixture of students, but when they are rejecting Illinoisians scoring 35 on their ACT while bringing in thousands of foreign students, thats a problem!  You know who would agree?  Bernie.

Of course as a Chinese American I would be offended by this specifically, but the apology makes it even more like a "slap in the face of all non-Caucasians."

Hopefully this company gets boycotted to oblivion.

Actually, the owner of the company seems to be a dirtbag in general.

He has his own wiki page, sued hundreds of his customers, and has been charged with harassing customers, among many other things.

For what it's worth, UIUC has officially condemned the ad, so good for them.

Also remember that UIUC is the same university where a Chinese international student got killed because she missed the university shuttle.

If locals can't compete, they need to up their game. The real problem is these are uneducated, unintelligent people who ultimately won't be able to compete in the real world. Don't blame the university for failing these deplorables, the rot goes far deeper.

My exact reaction to this news was: "Is Suburban Express run by the president?"

It is absolutely true that this guy is known for being a nutcase. My questions are: Does he put out these statements himself? Does he not employ any legal or HR team? Does anyone else have to approve this loony's ravings.

Happy to say I never rode Suburban Express as a UIUC student. My wife might have tho when she visited me...

Just a fact check, it wasn't a university shuttle, it was a city bus. But that was very haunting story since she disappeared right at the exact building where I used to park my car. Absolutely terrible.

It is really a scam though? Those foreign students' parent's are willing to pay those prices to let their kids be educated in America. I won't deny the problems it causes for instate acceptance and the effects that's having on increased difficulty for middle-class entry into college.
