Yes. Unlike in the 1940s and 1960s, there was no rampant voter fraud.

Ask the Lost Cause crowd. I'm sure we have a few here; Trump is President, so those views are obviously utterly mainstream.

That is the dumbest thing I have ever heard.

Yeah PR that was ridiculous. I've never once heard someone say this and especially not from a Trump supporter.

Uh, yes?

Also I'll just echo some of the comments here.  Like man if you are going to just come up with a random radical hypothetical you have to at least give us background or something besides "muh Trump supporters".

Really? I have, though in fairness I've no idea if the person in question voted for Trump. I'd imagine this opinion is more popular with the "abolish the federal government" D.W. Perry types.

In any case, Lincoln's election was obviously valid; arguably more so than the ratification of the Constitution itself, if you want to get technical.

Confederate monuments and statues are not on the rise, though...

lol

though on balance my guess is voter fraud/suppression in 1860 was more helpful to the Democrats.

Exactly. Yet somehow the south felt it was unfair to them.

To be fair, Breckinridge and Bell weren't on the ballot in many states...

Just to clarify what I meant to say, I meant that I've never heard anyone say this and especially not someone who would have voted for Trump, one of the two major candidates.  I'm just basically trying to say that even though some on here think Trump supporters are net-confederates, no supporters that I know of have ever said this and that the only possible challenges would be from some ultra-fringe group.
