I can't believe some people are even considering voting for Fieger.

Has he even announced?  Wiki said he's running for president in 2020.

I like that he defended Jack Kevorkian, but his last campaign in the state didn't turn out so well.

Very surprised by this, I thought Whitner would be wiping the floor with him even this far out. She will still win in the end most likely though

Did MIRS poll the general too?

He has said that "rabbis are closer to Nazis than they think," among other things. If he gets the Democratic nomination, it's going to be a steep climb in the general -- arguably an insurmountable one.

I'm like 60% sure Fieger is just Dustin Hoffman in a wig.

Republicans really shouldn't underestimate Fieger if he wins the nomination. I think this race a Tossup either way, though.

It would be horrifying (yet somehow fitting) if Fieger became Governor and Kid Rock became Senator.

Ah yes he's like a mix betwen Kid Rock and John Morgan. A political juggernaut that would win in Michigan with >60%.

Why exactly is Fieger perceived to be so bad? I know he lost in a landslide in 1998, but what was the reason for that? How did he do so bad? I honestly know very little about him and I can't seem to find any reason.

Wiki said he's running for president in 2020.

Well, that's wrong.  Wiki took a headline too literally, without actually reading the story.  Fieger has floated both a 2018 run for governor and 2020 run for president, but hasn't firmly committed to either one as of yet, AFAIK.

Would be interesting to see some polls on how Fieger would perform in the general.

Geoffrey Fieger was Jack Kevorkian's attorney, he said a lot of very inflammatory things you can google, among which include saying that rabbis are "closer to the nazis than they think". Being inflammatory is much less of a liability than it used to be, with that said, Fieger would still be a major net liability because the kind of voters that care about inflammatory statements are the kind of voters Democrats are now trying to win over - middle class suburbanites.

Thanks! I wonder how many voters still remember his 1998 campaign. Next year, some voters will have been born after he last ran, but I'd imagine there'd still be a decent number who do remember him. And I wonder what an Engler 1998/Fieger 2018 voter would be like.

WI and MI are both Tossups now, and I wouldn't assume Dems automatically wins MI. Like I said Dems should pour some money into WI, too begins, Baldwin's margin of victory will be high like 53-40 and with coattails like that, there is room for Dems to win against tough Governor Walker.

Whittmer is untested and Stabenow has a race on her hands.
