With Trump, it could happen.

If WWIII does start, it starts in Syria.

No.

North Korea is China's problem; they can disable the government there in less than 24 hours. Any sabre rattling has the potential to lead to international support for a Chinese led solution before the US.

If it did...it would be very ironic for Russia. What would be the post-game for such an endeavor provided it's not Fallout or Life After People.

The poll question is confusing.
War with North Korea isn't really WWIII, even if they (and us) used one or two nukes.
If China were to intervene on NK's side, then we have a different story.
So I don't know how to answer the poll (no answer selected for me).

War with NK could easily escalate into war with China, as some of their bases are very close to the Chinese border and China could intervene to prevent US troops from hugging the Yalu river.

No. I think WW3 is never going to happen actually. At least not in this century.

I agree with this broadly - though its folly to speak in certainties.

Only by accident. Trump is such a buffoon, he couldn't pour beer out of a boot with the instructions printed on the heel.

What news? None of the recent developments seem newsworthy at this point.  North Korea tests missile, United States yells and nothing happens. With Trump in the white house I can see sanctions being placed on China but that wont start a war.

No. As King and Reactionary have already said, war with North Korea would be tremendously bad, but it wouldn't be doomsday. Remember, Kim Jong-Un is a spoiled little playground bully with no friends.

you could argue that the current situation in the Middle East  - drawing in Turkey, Russia, the USA, the EU... already is WW3.

In any case, NK won't lead to a global scale war, any war that does happen will be fought using proxies - like every war since WW2 has.

Russia and China de facto back Kim.

A war with nuclear missile-armed North Korea would be unlike any war since WW2... even Mattis has said so.

Here is a short primer on how it would play out https://qz.com/950488/nasty-brutish-and-short-what-the-next-korean-war-will-look-like/

Just the opening months, not counting an extended timeline if we have to put boots and face an insurgency.

The opening hours would see ~30,000 dead in Seoul. Most likely it would be more due to it being a city of 10 million people.

Their artillery doesn't have the range to saturate Seoul proper, so most of the casualties would occur in the northern suburbs, which is probably the reason their estimate is so low. How awful this would be probably depends on how much the US knows about the specific locations of the batteries, and how quickly they can take them out in a combat situation (as well as whether North Korea is acting willing to use WMD).

Maybe, but it's still going to be a war between proxies, not an all out global war.

Even the bad haired one knows that going to war with the US would be suicide, and China is too economically interlinked  to the US to out and out support NK.

A war with North Korea would not be WWIII unless China and/or Russia intervened on their behalf with the full force of their nuclear stockpile. Not going to happen, even if we do somehow get involved in the DPRK.

Hardly. WW1 killed 10 million people in four years and WW2 killed 60 million in six years. What's happening in Syria, though bloody, is nowhere on that scale.

Any World War would leave out one of Russia, America, or China. Honestly, I think Putin would prefer us to China, considering his past comments about communism and China.

IMHO, it seems like this may happen.  Pray for peace (if you're religious).  :-/
