The economy is picking up. Good news.
But I assure you, the majority of what is happening, is not due to trump.
It has taken many, many years for the economy to slowly recover, and the current president (be it trump or whoever it would have been) will see the positive outcomes.

And it isn't due to Trump, Trump doesn't create jobs.
Entrepreneurs and Trump supporters create jobs.

His approvals are in the 30's now. Just wait until the next recession hits in a year or two.

Proof that despite what they say, nobody votes on jobs or other economic issues.

I'm not convinced a recession will hit (unless there's something like a "major, major" war). The service sector is more stable than the industrial sector, so there are structural reasons why business cycles have been getting longer in the past 70 years. That being said, there are also structural problems in our economy that will also persist, even if they are partially papered over, that a smart opposition party could try to address.

It's good news for the economy and I hope this continues.  However, it doesn't show any great acceleration in job creation; Trump's first 6 months had about the same as Obama's last 6 months (actually slightly less for Trump than Obama, but the difference is at the noise level).

Last 6 months of Obama (jobs created in thousands):

Aug   176
Sep   249
Oct   124
Nov   164
Dec   155
Jan   216

Total: 1084

First 6 months of Trump:

Feb   232
Mar   50
Apr   207
May   145
Jun   231
Jul   209

Total: 1074

If the economy is doing poorly, people take notice. A good economy doesn't guarantee victory for the incumbent party, but a poor economy usually dooms it.

So what? How many of those were good paying jobs? How many were full time employment? How many of them were entry-level that offered training opportunities for low-skilled, highly educated recent graduates? How many 16-64 (or 25-56) year old Americans have simply dropped out of the workforce altogether? Where are those jobs located?

Just because a bunch of jobs were added doesn't really mean anything. What matters is how many people who want full time employment have it, how many are working for a living wage, how many entry-level job seekers are able to find employment that offers training or is flexible with skills requirements, and where those jobs are geographically located. I have friends and family still unable to find full time employment despite sending out dozens or even hundreds of resumes, primarily due to lack of experience and lack of a robust network. Employers are more than willing to sit idly by and let a job go unfilled or fill it with someone through a referral than offer it to other job seekers.

When Obama was in office anytime anyone on the left brought up new jobs or low unemployment....the conservatives would just point to the declining labor force.

And, indeed, the labor force participation rate has not changed since Trump took office (well, it's had some noise, but it is currently the same as it was at the end of January).

The scary part about reaching the top is that there is only one place left to go.

When will the GOP realise expansionary fiscal and monetary policy in times of slow growth is the right way to go about things though?

Utterly disagree. All this means is that Trump is a dumpster fire that even a chugging economy dash dash thanks Obama Dash Dash can't protect
