"Progressives" will never rally around a woman to challenge a centrist man, not seriously (if she even runs to the left).

IIRC, that was like a 3-week protest movement. Never treated seriously.

Meh kinda yes kinda no. Cuomo ran ads for the primary, especially for his LG but for himself as well. She also got some union, activist, and elected official endorsements. Overall got 34% against his 62%.

Exactly what are her qualifications to be Governor? Not legal requirements, qualifications. Being a Governor of any state is not a job for a novice. This is such a joke.

Didn't you hear? Qualifications don't matter anymore. I'm the governor of seven different states now.

And as someone said on Twitter, Miranda would TOTALLY make the subways run on time.

I will say that with public transit in and around NYC coming to a breaking point, and with angst among Democratic voters about lots of things in NYC, a primary challenge could be potent.

Would totally endorse her. Cuomo is the epitome of corrupt, big city Democrat who made a career piggybacking his father's.

Granholm the model is still the best Michigan's had in ages.

Also Der Sperminator, The People's Park Butcher, and Murphy in the Senate weren't jokes and the whole system still suffers because of them. Yet for some bizarre reason, one of these guys became President, and one of them got re-elected in a landslide...in a wave going the other way.

The NY GOV Democratic gubernatorial primary is Lean/Likely Cuomo, but anything could happen. If Zephyr Teachout runs for the NY-19 seat again, she could give Nixon a bump in the race.

Your average celebrity is absolutely closer to being an average American than 90% of people in politics, yes.

Busted. And Kimberly Ellis still hasn't conceded the California Democratic chair election that was stolen from her.

That's very hard for me to believe, granted both are very out of touch.

Why not? Actors are essentially working people who happen to randomly be wildly overpaid and it's pretty common for them to come from fairly common backgrounds (although in the case of Cynthia Nixon I know literally nothing about her back story so I can't say if that's the case here). And for all the talk of "Hollywood elites," celebrities are prettt unquestionably the least powerful segment of the wealthy. Now obviously someone with millions of dollars to their name isn't exactly your average American, but next to the likes of say, Donald Trump or Nancy Pelosi, it's not even a fair comparison.

Nixon's been involved in some political activism with SSM and breast cancer, so I wouldn't be surprised if she's using the campaign as a platform to get her message out. I'll wait to find out if she's actually running and starts making a platform to decide if she's a legit candidate or not. She at least sounds very intelligent from reading about her background. I'd love to see Stephanie Miner jump in to this race though.

Is this really what the world has come to where celebrities are going to be credible political candidates. I don't mind some celebrities who have spent there careers involved in politics like many comedians such as Al Franken but I just don't like it when anybody just runs for a major office with no real qualifications.

James Buchanan clearly had way more qualifications to be President than Abe Lincoln.
