If it's a limited punitive strike, there's a chance they'd just throw a hissy fit and "take it", or launch a limited retaliatory strike against SK or US bases in the Pacific. Still a foolish thing to risk though.

Any large scale attack that looks like a prelude to invasion and you'd run the risk of them going nuclear. Certainly at least they'd invade SK to attack US forces in preemption of an invasion.

NK having nukes makes a conventional strike out of the question, IMO. The only thing to do is make sure we're ready if they do attack, make clear the consequences of them using their weapons, an if they do use them hopefully stop them with defensive missiles and then completely destroy the country. No one likes to hear things like that, but conventionally attacking NK won't stop them from nuking us and actually would make it more likely.
