Michael Tracy is crap. Jimmy Dore is sometimes crazy. But TYT has also done some brilliant journalism including the Indiana Lead story being broken by Jordan. The Dakota Pipeline & DNC Chair races were covered very very well. This thread is incredibly stupid though. As per the article, TYT raised 20M $ through investors & are going to double their staff & are investing heavily. They also have had considerable growth even after the 2016 primary. They are the current largest online news show in the world. So this is good news for TYT, don't get the clickbait title.

I'm no fan of TYT, but this reminds me of attacks on Sanders for having the gall to purchase a vacation home with money he had saved up over years of service and/or from book sales, as if a self-proclaimed democratic socialist has to live in abject poverty to satisfy his critics. To be fair, plenty of young, mavericky groups are sometimes called Young Turks. Perhaps not the best name to choose, but in the West we usually ignore the world between Athens and Hong Kong, so I think any possible in insensitiveness can usually be forgiven. Of course, TYT was founded by a guy who knows exactly who the Young Turks were.

The hypocrisy is they constantly tout the fact that they're "independent", and are not beholden to investors or corporate interests. (not to mention the blatant hypocrisy which is a signature of their "news coverage") Now, they are, objectively speaking, responsible for generating a return on that $20m. VC money is far more opaque than traditional media revenue streams through advertisements and/or cable subscriptions, or even Infowars' supplement-hawking.

The Young Turks is many things, but it's certainly not "far-left" in any real sense. There's a handful of socialists on the staff, but most of TYT are just left-liberals who like Bernie Sanders.
