Thank you, Mr. Speaker. To put this as simply as possible, if a company wishes to do overseas work under a government contract, they need to be willing to put aside feelings about particular countries Atlasia chooses to have close relationships with. By allowing companies to boycott our allies, there becomes the a major conflict of interest that alone makes the company unsuitable for the job. Beyond that, it has the potential to leave us in a spot where our hands are tied on companies we can work with for particular overseas projects, and would possibly put our foreign relations in jeopardy depending on the project and situation with said countries.

Will this make procurement of anything vital difficult or impossible?

As of this time, and to the best of my knowledge, no.

The intent of this bill is to prevent any future issues. We've seen a growing number of companies coming out that they are boycotting our allies (for example, Israel). And while I do value the idea that a company is allowed to choose whom they do business with and how they run it, ones that choose to enter a contract with a government entity, especially in work overseas where it has the most impact, need to be held to a different standard. We don't want to project the idea that our government supports boycotting an ally and causing issues as a result.

I am going to take that as yes. A final vote is now open on the underlying legislation, Representatives, please vote Aye, Nay or Abstain.

I miss the old Senate rules sometimes. Under them I could end this vote right now. Wink

Sorry, I couldn't vote because of personal things. I would have absolutely voter Aye, however.
