Apparently it's on the cards.

I'd like a sequel series, not a reboot of the same show and characters just with different actors.

This is a good oppurtunity to link to this article from Current Affairs which lays out the case that The West Wing is the source of everything wrong with the current liberal worldview.

So maybe Santos loses to a Republican in 2010 who serves two terms, and the new series picks up in 2018 with a new Democratic administration?

I cannot imagine any scenario which sees Santos retaining the Presidency after the Great Recession.

They should (but wouldn't) do it with a conservative Republican administration and not do it with either sympathy or scorn, but just with good actors and good storylines.

This seems totally unnecessary. It's a perfectly fine show but it is fully a product of the late 90s/early post 9/11 era in politics, which seems far removed from what we're dealing with now.

They should have a mash up show where the West Wing reboot makes the news, The Newsroom reboot shows how it's covered and the Studio 60 reboot satirizes it.

In other words, no more reboots. Original ideas would be nice.

If they do it, they gotta have a Republican President.

For once I agree.

If it comes back it will OBVIOUSLY be a Republican president who fulfills every fantasy of the "Moderate, Compassionate, Sensible Republican" that centrists the world over clamor for but has never actually existed.

Arnie Vinick had his chance back in 2006 and he blew it. He's too old now. Wink  I wouldn't really mind if they brought back John Goodman's character though.
