The GOP politicians have such fun opinions of each other lately. The "really?" made it for me.

Why would they vote for him over Feingold?

Your guess is as good as mine. Wisconsin either votes for really good Democrats or really bad Republicans. There is no in between.

They could have a smart, experienced man with a stable but bold mind. But they chose this.

Senator Ron Johnson: a well-funded empty suit, a stooge who hides his subservience to the Master Class with blandness. The only good thing that you can say about him is that he doesn't get known for making outrageous statements of extremism. He isn't quite the late Jesse Helms, but he quietly votes like him. A Master-Class favorite for that, and the Master Class wants America to be 'rich' in that sort of politician.

The American political system now favors people who have 15th-century minds with 21st-century technology at their disposal. They still believe that no human suffering is in excess so long as there is an elite profit to be gained, enforced, or indulged; they just happen to like Internet access, cable TV (for Fox Propaganda Channel), and a smart phone.

Those technological wonders will be useless when people are working 80 hours a week and spending an hour each way in commute traffic just to survive, but millions of Americans are simply to intellectually-lazy to contemplate that.

And neither are even up for re-election until 2022.

How did this guy get reelected? All the polls showed him losing by substantial margins.

...If Donald Trump got elected dishonestly, so did this guy.

Wisconsin is practically a dictatorship under Scott Walker.

The polls were quite uniformly wrong and this benefited Republicans across the board.

They may be on to something but Feingold is pretty progressive IIRC

Yep, and one of the few who took a stand against the Middle Eastern war. It's still shocking to me that he lost.

Is there a chance he runs for Governor next year?

How anyone actually believed that he would break with the GOP on health care is beyond me. He is a Republican hack, plain and simple. I love how some Republcans try to argue that Senators like Baldwin and Brown are "too liberal" for their states, and yet don't seem to have a problem with Senators like Johnson who vote as if Wisconsin is actually Wyoming.

Wisconsin's voter ID laws disenfranchised 200,000 Wisconites, mostly from Democratic leaning demographics. Johnson won by less than 100,000 votes.

Sure, there's a chance, but I think it's slim.

Wisconsin is a very politically polarized state. The cities are deep blue, and the rural areas and suburbs are deep red.

Actually, Wisconsin's rural areas are probably to the left of most white rural areas.

For the OP, disgraceful.

One of the most idiotic things I've heard come out of a Senator's mouth in years.

Too bad he's not up for re-election until until 2022.

Herb Kohl and Bill Proxmire were very mediocre Democrats who got reelected multiple times in Wisconsin.

Different times, I suppose.
