This young dude has one messed-up brain. There is so much wrong in his statement above, that I don't know where to start.

General Robert E Lee was defending the Confederacy because of the South's insistence with keeping slavery alive. Lee fought to continue the practice of white people owning black slaves. Yet this guy says he wants to just "honor and respect what he stood for during his time."

To die over exercising your political rights of free speech is so sad.  The government needs to crack down on these radical right wing militas.  Round them up now.  They disgust me.

I saw a stat on political terrorism in the US yesterday. In the past however many years there've been 38 attacks from white supremacists groups and exactly one from black nationalist groups. One problem is much more significant than the other.

And as the other poster said, this isn't a one or the other situation. I don't like black nationalists or white nationalists. I'm just not going to make red herring references to black nationalists after white nationalist attacks/demonstrations because I'm not desperately grasping to excuse/distract from this.

Perhaps I'm overly naive, but I've always been puzzled by the thinking behind trying to defend a wrong action by one side with "well, the other side does it" (whether or not the other side actually does do it is irrelevant).  If some action is wrong when the other side does it, then it's wrong when your side does it too.  And it doesn't justify your side doing it; two wrongs don't make a right.

It's also a false​ narrative that everyone who points it out is justifying anything.  Political violence is wrong matter what team you are on.

The "alt-left" slur is used by liberals to equate members of the DSA, supporters of the Sanders 2016 presidential campaign, any Democrat critical of the failed party leadership, etc. to literal Neo-Nazis, even when people who meet said descriptions are the ones getting killed by these thugs. This is indefensible to anyone except centrist hacks like yourself.

It isn't a slur, but continue on that tangent if you like.  I know that it keeps you and the DSA going.  And I'm nothing close to a centrist, but nice strawman.

If you really need me to spell it out for you I will.  You're acting like that guy who every time a black person says something about a racist white person (whether it is a story or just expressing general annoyance) goes but actually and goes on to proclaim that not all white people are racist.  You and others love to insert yourselves into terms, phrases, stories just so you can be the centre of attention.  So that you can take up just that little bit more room from those who really need it.  It's a very common occurrence with white folk on both the left and right.
