The party's current congressional delegation is pretty horrible.

Can you imagine if the GOP were to f**k-up increasing the debt limit ?
Let's be clear, they control the Senate, House and the Executive branch.

The GOP put the economy in a small tailspin once on this issue.
It's just insane that anyone, any party, would place the entire US economy (and the world's solid trust in our treasuries) in severe danger for such a small task as increasing the debt limit.
The debt limit should be abolished altogether in my opinion; it should NEVER be used as bait for anything.

The flipside to having a lot of seats in Congress, accrued over years of running against the other party, is that internal divisions are going to be much more stark than when you run on a positive message (and usually lose). Democrats faced the same thing in 2008, when the anti-Bush coalition was much bigger than the Democrats were able to assuage in two short years.

Today, the Republicans in Congress have no idea of what it means to be a Republican - are they a party of fiscal responsibility or military strength and propping up the middle class? Are they a party of the alt-Right and white America, or a God-fearing party of family values? Trying to have all of the above voters can work for you - in one election. Beyond that, you have to start burning bridges if you want to operate as a functioning political party.

Yup. Too many Republicans are just Not Democrats. Not saying that's not an issue for Dems (largely how I came to sympathize with them), but still

90% of the everyday voters who were upset about "too much spending" during the Obama years don't care about fiscal responsibility.

They just couldn't deal with having a black president.

True. Republicans pretend not to hate black Republicans because they supposedly prove they're not racist.

Did you see West Virginia's GOP governor demanding a multibillion dollar fund to pay West Virginians to mine coal that is economically unviable? We're supposed to take money from the rest of the country to give to them so that they can give us more air pollution and more environmental destruction?

This is why people think all Republicans are racist. Because they claim to be against "free stuff" but when given the choice, they really just want to make sure there's "free stuff" but that it only goes to white people.

All funds should be reinvested into the DoD.

Taking money from your opponents constituents and distrusting to your own constituents is basically how every single political party works at a fundamental level (and ignore any nonsense about how they doing is because of ideology and principle every political party say that BS).
Not sure why are people are acting outraged that the GOP is doing what every other competent political party does?

Somewhat true. His voters only care about deficits when Democrats cause them.
