He could win, especially if 2020 is a bad year for the GOP.

It will really depend on the national environment and if how well Daines campaigns. Conrad Burns only lost in 2006 because there was a perfect storm for the Democrats. (National wave + Jack Abramoff scandal)

Maybe, but I would rather have him run for the presidency.

He'll probably run for President instead, although I'd rather have him run for Senate because Dems will have plenty of Presidential contenders, and Bullock is likely the only Dem who could defeat Daines. If Bullock's likely presidential bid doesn't gain steam and he drops out early, he could then launch a Senate campaign

Except Bullock won't run because he knows that a moderate white guy from Montana running in a field with much bigger names can only win Montana in the primaries, if that.

I think it's clear that he'll run for something else in 2020. Whether that is president or Senate or something else remains to be seen (I think it's much more likely he runs for Senate, as that is a race he could actually win).

He could run for President in hopes for the VP or a cabinet spot.

Yeah, I guess that's a possibility as well. Democrats could definitely make the Senate race competitive even without Bullock if they play their cards right, so Bullock refusing to run for Senate wouldn't be that big of a recruitment failure for Democrats, especially if the national environment is good for them.

He'd be a perfect VP for Warren

Bullock probably will run, but don't rule out him being on the ticket as the running mate for a Warren, Booker or Harris.
