A female reporter of The Hill in Charlottesville was punched in the face by a counter-protestor who didn't like her filming there: https://twitter.com/TaylorLorenz/status/896442225600671744

Are people seriously saying that that should not be condemned because the man who punched her was "on the right side"?

Um, no. Not anyone at all I've heard of at least.

This is not America.

This is not a president.

Every Trump voter who is not also a white supremacist Nazi needs to be ashamed of themselves.  There is no legitimate excuse for Trump's remarks, as there was no legitimate reason for you to vote for him.  I question your integrity, morals, and patriotism.  If you still support this man in the face of his Nazi-sympathizing remarks, then you are un-American; you have no American values; you don't even know what American values are.

You also have no sense of self respect, dignity, morality, or decency.  You are a stain on this country.

I'm not a Trump voter, but what makes you think Hillary Clinton was any better? She would be having a very hard time right now as well.

Hillary Clinton would not be having a hard time treating this attack appropriately, which is what the thread is about.

The rallies might not have even happened if she won, or if Trump never had a campaign. Or if they did it would have been the usual double digit number of losers who used to show up to these things and it would have been a non-story.

I recall Ronald Reagan showing unambiguous contempt for Klansmen and neo-Nazis who wanted him on their side.

You may have disagreed with him... but he had his wisdom. Donald Trump has no wisdom.

There is no possible rehabilitation of the image of the Nazis -- none possible at all. Anyone who attaches himself to the Nazis has detonated the philosophical and moral equivalent of a a live grenade upon his soul.

As American soldiers who waged war against the demonic cause of Nazism and the survivors of the Holocaust die off. Humanity continues to hate Nazis as if it was they were victims of Nazism. In a way we all are. We would be better off with large Jewish communities in central Europe that Hitler and his thugs exterminated.  That is before I even discuss the other millions of victims of Nazism -- Roma, the Polish intelligentsia, Soviet POWs, the handicapped, political dissidents of all nations, victims of Nazi terror bombing from Belfast to Belgrade... Anyone who attaches to Nazism has sold his soul to the Evil One.

It's hard to see any equivalent to Nazism. The great carnage in the wake of the Mongol conquests results from weak control by the conquerors and the primitive morality of the Middle Ages. First Peoples of the Americas? At times, unintended consequences. The Atlantic slave trade? A Holocaust in its own right. The massacres of the Armenians? Really, really bad. Commie crimes? You are getting there.

If Dante Aligheri were writing his Inferno today... he would have an especially nasty bolgia just for Nazis.

Donald Trump must resign from the Presidency now before he can further debase an office that has had such illustrious figures as Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln, and both Presidents with the surname Roosevelt.

If the Democrats continue with your hate speech, working people from the south and west will create their own union, They seem to want that.

The basic viewpoint of the losers of the 2016 election is that they and only they are somehow entitled to hold political power even as they lose election after election. And therefore they cannot handle Trump's glory.

You mean, as McConnell trying to stop Obama's legislation with 40 (!!) Senators, right?

This would be a meaningful statement if the losers of the 2016 election were content to merely stop legislation, and otherwise were willing to accept their loss in the 2016 election.

Those losers are not behaving like that.

Ah, was wondering when you'd show up. You have a good time in Virginia over the weekend?

Wow. I have to appreciate when someone doesn't hide behind double-talk and allows out and out $hitbag racism to come out of their mouths. Kudos to being an unapologetic Naz......

OOOPS!  I mean "Fascist with views extremely reminiscent of a mid-20th Century German far right wing racist party". Sorry. Merely expanding on the need to expand the white population to avoid the "culture" of lesser races isn't sufficient to call someone a Nazi anymore on Atlas. They HAVE to be a full-fledged card-carrying member of the National Socialist Party for that. Or else it's a "personal attack".

Because a majority of the current mods are f#$king idiots.

Watching the lefties here do this is hilarious

If you think only "Lefties" should be pissed off at this disgusting display, you're genuinely lost.

Can you just once rise above "Trump triggers libs so I like him, hur hur" juvenalia and actually try explaining how this is anything less than $hitastic?

Seriously man. What is wrong with you? Huh

I recall Ronald Reagan showing unambiguous contempt for Klansmen and neo-Nazis who wanted him on their side.

Ronald Reagan also decided to give a states' rights speech in Philadelphia, Mississippi, which was also his first general election campaign stop. The particular county in which Philadelphia is located was also the scene of a bombed African American church, tortured parishioners, and most notoriously, the murder of 3 civil rights activists. He chose to give a speech that used the same rhetoric employed by Southern segregationists who claimed the federal government had no Constitutional right to enforce desegregation and civil rights on Southern states. So, don't pretend like the man who blew a segregationist dog whistle into a megaphone at the notorious location where 3 civil rights activists were murdered was so much better than Trump. Reagan was trash just like Trump.

Well, this will all be over soon if impeachment comes.

Actually, part of me is hoping for it now.  Everything just makes it worse.  Some stuff he said was right, but he should've risen above Obama's idiotic agenda and just condemned white supremacy immediately.  He should've done what Obama didn't when there was a terrorist attack.

Lol.
You are still doing that bullsh**t false equivalence. Honestly you are just as bad as Naso and Krazen.

I don't feel like it is. Both should have been condemned right away. That's how it works. Both failed.
Why am I not allowed to talk about a Democrat's failure?

Did Obama say that there were "good people on both sides" in this "terrorist attack" you are talking about ?
Ok then !
Once again Saint, you cant compare the two.

Read my f***ing post. Did I say BOTH SIDES DO IT bdhjsqdbhqwbdhjqadbhjdjqh
No. I was specifically talking about naming the enemy, not the good people thing.  That was a horrible thing to say.

Oh my !
When Saint (the spiritual guy) starts cursing, he is really pissed.
But I think his internal outrage is actually due to trump, yet I (we) are taking the brunt of it.
It's OK. I'll accept it. But I'm glad he is really "starting to see the light" regarding the Orange-Haired Clown.

Amen!

Please Saint. There IS a better way. Come into the light. Reject this clown from the party and move on.

No, she wouldn't. Like her style of politics or not, she would have no trouble whatsoever in condemning ACTUAL NAZIS. As we were are seeing, even the majority of politicians find it quite easy to accurately and effectively publicly separate themselves from the ideology the entire planet joined forces to defeat seven decades ago.

It takes a really special kind of stupid evil to fail and trip over himself when asked to respond to the question "Are Nazis bad?"

This is bullsh**t.

Obama called it terrorism. He just didn't say radical islamic terrorism because he didn't want to play into ISIS hands in terms of propaganda.

Also, Obama never did this whataboutitism that Trump is doing.

Like I said you are just as bad as Krazen and Naso but for different reasons. You know that Trump is disgrace, so instead of owning up to it, you try to deflect.

It is cowardly, at least guys like Naso and Krazen have the balls to be open about their hackery.

1) The kid is publicly calling for impeachment and you're still not satisfied? Give him a break, geez.

2) The bolded passage is seriously misguided. There is but a fine line between the kind of "GOP hackery" going on these days and bloodlust. You can't clump in right-wingers who ultimately want things to deescalate in with those other kinds of people.

Excellent post. Saint does not remotely deserve to be lumped in with naso or Kragen. Or even classic conservative for that matter

What are you talking about? No, she wouldn't. At all. Hillary Clinton has spent a long time in politics and barely ever gotten into trouble for speaking about politics or events. When she has gotten into trouble it has almost always been about her personal life ("dead broke") or personal conduct (E-mails).

Perhaps one of the only Republican statements on the matter with any real substance beyond platitudes.

Agree.
This one was also somewhat direct towards the president ...

There were a handful. Unfortunately the cynic in me notices that the the level of the condemnation of President Trump by name, or clear implication in Justin a mashes case, is directly tied to how much of a swing District or state the poster is in. Sad

Saint's gonna say some opposing stuff sometimes to other viewpoints since presumably he is a Republican after all and many of us here are Democrats. That happens, and it's an important part of this forum that we have differing views. However, mixing him as just another Trump bot isn't fair because that's not who he is. The most important quality that I look for, which is lacking in many Trump supporters but present in Saint, is a capacity to take in new facts and allow those facts to influence your opinions.

This. I would add that general spitefulness towards political opponents is present in the Krazens/Nasos of the forum, but notably absent with Saint.

"Hate is baggage.
Life is too short to be pissed-off all the time.
It's just not worth it."

From the movie : American History X

This movie is about a white supremacist and how it can destroy your family and the people you love around you. But we all have the ability to change our lives to become a better individual in society.
GREAT MOVIE .... Give it a rent, if you have never seen it before.
Rotten Tomatoes, "Audience Score of  96% Liked It" and "Average Rating of 4.2 out of 5."

I'm ashamed to live in a country where the president refuses to denounce Nazis.

And I'll say it again, any of you who still support him after this are in-American. This is disgusting rhetoric, and it is not something which can be supported by anyone with any semblance of American values.
