The Left demonizes white people, period. It's not fair that this rubs off on the Democratic party, but it does. Yesterday Nikkita Oliver, who came in third place in the Seattle mayoral primary, attacked the two women who made it into the runoff as "white." Of course this kind of behavior is inflammatory and nurtures the Trump-right. I wish both sides would cut it out, or a vital 'center' ideology would be resuscitated.

Saying "both sides" when comparing the President of the United States and head of the Republican Party to someone came in third place in the Seattle mayoral primary is disingenuous, at best.

So we only castigate the right-wing side until a Democratic President is elected, then we only castigate the left-wing side? Racial incitement from the left-wing helped build Trump in the first place. I'm with bronz on this one. Both sides are not good.

There are crazies From the left and right who are an embarrassment to their side and cause whatever position they represent to largely become moot.

But there are only Nazis on one side. There are only white supremacists on one side. And the president attempting to shift blame or focus to the side that is not representing Nazi values and white supremacy, in the face of the murder of one on the non-offending side, is not just wrong, it is disqualifying of his office.

Yes, both sides have moments where violent protest occurs, and that's wrong. Only one side, though, is at fault right now, and their fault deserves to be acknowledged and strongly denounced by the president.

Trump asking whether Washington and Jefferson are next was actually a good point that got lost among his more provocative remarks in that bizarre Trump Tower press conference.

This is one of the more stupid false equivalences I've seen (and there have been a bunch of them lately.)  Washingon and Jefferson were crucial in the founding of this country; the Confederates tried to tear it apart.  These monuments never should have been erected in the first place; even Lee was against the idea of Confederate monuments.  Study their history, sure, but that can be done quite well with books and museums.  Don't celebrate traitors to the country with monuments.

No it isn't, there is a world of difference between Washington and Jefferson who just owned slaves (and have recorded evidence of them hating the practice but for a variety of reasons felt the need to keep them) and confederates who fought a war keep the institution in place

Somebody should ask Trump what he has learned from history. I would like to hear his no doubt rambling non-sensical answer.

Yes, the stupid hurts.

Lee saved America?

Ramses II?  The founders were more akin to the Israelites feeling Egypt, not the Pharaohs.  (Paine, for one, called George III the Pharaoh of England.)

I could go on, but what's the point.

Why does he single out Graham though? There were dozens of Republican congresspeople who have critcized him since Tuesday. Must be something personal.

Lee is no different than Pedro II, Catherine the Great, Haile Selassie, or Nebuchadnezzar.

By trouncing, I guess he means the Presidential primary?  Graham won all his elections to the House and Senate handily.
