I recall Ronald Reagan showing unambiguous contempt for Klansmen and neo-Nazis who wanted him on their side.

Ronald Reagan also decided to give a states' rights speech in Philadelphia, Mississippi, which was also his first general election campaign stop. The particular county in which Philadelphia is located was also the scene of a bombed African American church, tortured parishioners, and most notoriously, the murder of 3 civil rights activists. He chose to give a speech that used the same rhetoric employed by Southern segregationists who claimed the federal government had no Constitutional right to enforce desegregation and civil rights on Southern states. So, don't pretend like the man who blew a segregationist dog whistle into a megaphone at the notorious location where 3 civil rights activists were murdered was so much better than Trump. Reagan was trash just like Trump.
