Although if you earn enough, you can also buy private insurance here and get even better services via private doctors and better care in hospitals ... (such as not being crowded into a hospital room with 4 to 6 people, but have a single room or 2 patients at most).

On the other hand, the regular single-payer system for all is also pretty good by international quality standards and 99.9% are insured (with the rest, mostly recently arrived immigrants who have not filed for asylum yet, being treated by volunteering doctors).

No, but we do have universal healthcare. The Netherlands actually used to have something like a public option about 10 years ago (2/3rds was covered by public insurance, the rest had private insurance). But in 2005 or 2006 the government decided to ditch it. The results are hotly debated. Healthcare has become more expensive than 10 years ago and the bureaucracy still is terrible, but waiting lists are much shorter than under the public option. And because wealthy people could afford private insurance they had access to much better care (the disparity is smaller now). The costs of the public option also were projected to explode. Personally I strongly oppose returning to a public option and I think partially privatizing healthcare has been a succes, but it's hotly debated.

Implementing single-payer would be nearly impossible though. It would cost the government a lot of money, and they would need to buy the insurers out. Another reason why Jan-Peter Balkenende is the most underrated Dutch PM ever Cheesy. I start liking Balkenende more and more. Everyone always says that Piet de Jong is the most underrated Dutch PM ever, but that meme is so overused that he's probably overrated by now.

No, in Chile we have multi-payer universal healthcare. The state has its own agency, called Fonasa (Fondo Nacional de Salud o National Healthcare Fund) which is fund by the employees (7% of the salary) and its in charge of managing the healthcare system (although not the hospitals). 75% of the population its covered by Fonasa. The problem is that Fonasa doesn't work that well and hospitals in Chile can't cover the current demand efficiently (and are underfunded).

For people who doesn't want the public option there are the Isapres (Institutions of Social Security) which are the private insurers. They charged you the 7% (instead of going to Fonasa its going to the Isapre) but they can charged you more. This is the better option if you going to private hospitals but is not good if you can't afford the money (they don't cover all) so that's why most of the population prefer Fonasa. Isapres covered 18% of the population.

The rest of the population it's basically the army and the police, which has its own system paid by all the chileans (thank you Pinochet and your Reserved Law of Copper).

In Ricardo Lagos' Government it was created the Auge, which is a program with the objetive of covered certain diseases, and since then, coverage has increased steadily, and now 80 diseases (for example HIV/AIDS, schizophrenia, depression, etc.) are fully covered by the state, independently if you are in Fonasa or Isapre.

It's very similar to spanish, to the point that AFAIK if you can speak one you can effectively communicate with people who only know the other.
