I can't think of another governorship today being held by the same party for such a lengthy period w/o interruption. Hawaii would take a cake if not for Lingle's two terms.

Other than Deep South (and rock solid Republican upper New England), was there ever such a long period?

I can take a small consolation in that at least it's not as bad as Kansas's partisan streak in electing US Senators. Tongue

This is South Dakota.  South Dakota hasn't elected a Democrat governor since 1974.  South Dakota is smart.  Be like South Dakota.
