I would assume it would be states that are quite elastic so basically the Midwest. I suppose you could mention West Virginia as well, though many of those "populist" voters don't really vote so much anymore.

Isn't Alabama populist in a way? Trump's base was super strong there along with WV and OH.

A Trump voter is not synonomous with "populist" at all.
