Teapot Dome is the real issue here... I suspect things would have ended up badly for him on that front.

Well, The Republicans are ruined. The Teapot Dome Scandal has ruined him and every other republican, from Coolidge to Hoovers, Chances of any further political career. The Democrats have assured a win for 1924, and most likely 1928, although the Republicans have a small, very small chance.  The great depression happens as OTL but it hits even harder as there's no Coolidge or Hoover legislation. So the Republicans win, most likely on an FDR Like Platform. This means the Dems become the right wing party and the Republicans the left and a stronger opposition to a FDR-Like Republican Dominance. However, if the Republicans win, they're dead. Gone. After a Scandal and an economic crash under two Republican administrations, in less than a decade, the party has bad chances of ever doing well again. say hello to the Socialists or Prohibition, or someone else.

Mcadoo might have a good chance and Bryan seems a good choice; however, as Smith was a Catholic and a wet, perhaps not the most popular of democrats at the time.

If McAdoo got nominated in 1924, defeated Harding, and then got re-elected in 1928, I wonder how McAdoo would respond to the Depression.

I think there is a great chance that Harding would have lost renomination due to all the corruption. And Calvin Coolidge would never have been president unless his former boss died in office or, in case of Harding's renomination, had been dropped from the ticket in 1924. Herbert Hoover may have been nominated and elected in 1924 and then reelected in 1928, with FDR winning 1932 overwhelmingly against another Republican due to the Great Depression.

If renominated, Harding still would have won reelection, but by somewhat lesser margin than Coolidge won in real life. The country was just not about electing any Democrat in 1924. His tenure would have been somewhat similar to Coolidge on most issues, just with more corruption.

Of course the popular child film star that was the Official Mascot of the 1924 Democratic Convention is still alive. The only one from either convention.
