Has anyone blamed Trump's incompetence for the storm's creation?  If not, please proceed.  We know it's true.
Clearly antifa created it to wash away our great American historical monuments.

Ha ha.  But you know what, Trump is to inept to create a hurricane, so I understand why he's not been blamed yet.  Wink

I just checked the wikipedia page, it seems that literally the slightest intensification will result in a category 3

Trump will prove that he is a great president and will gloriously fix the disaster. Its popularity rises 10 points

I saw yesterday that they expect it to eventually be a strong category 3 or even category 4, and that it'll make landfall as a major Hurricane, and so far models have been underestimating this hurricane. This storm picked up really fast.

If Bush couldn't handle Katrina I HIGHLY doubt Trump can handle Harvey.

I love how this thread is about Trump and not the actual storm or the millions effected by it.

Katrina wasn't a storm. Katrina was an engineering disaster, had the levees held the worst images of the storm never would've happened. Dont get me wrong, Mississippi would've still been decimated, but New Orleans wouldn't have taken the damage it did. Given that, Harvey is not nearly the size of Katrina so the surge will not be as big of an issue aside from where it gets funnelled in (such as Corpus Christi Bay, Matagorda Bay, Aransas) but the rain will be the biggest issue. The wind will cause tremendous damage if it makes a direct hit on Corpus. However, While Katrina came in perpendicular to the coast, Harvey looks like he'll come in more at an angle, which can make a difference. I think we can rule out a Katrina type catastrophe unless it moves directly up to Houston from where it is now

Let's forget about Trump for a moment. The storm has strengthened dramatically in just the past few hours, there's talk it might even make it to a Category 4. According to some experts the threat to refineries is also being underappreciated.

Yeah, I just read that there are surface winds up to 117 MPH in one of Harvey's bands (category 3 territory). It also appears to be undergoing an ERC  (eyewall replacement cycle) where the inner wall slowly disintegrates and the winds are spread out over a much larger area. It also appears to be slowing down, which is a bad sign and is a reason why this storm is so dangerous: it prolongs winds, rain and storm surges.

It's also possible that it'll go back into the Gulf of Mexico next week after it stalls out over Texas, re-strengthens and makes landfall again, where it'll affect Houston and Western Louisiana. Hard to project if it actually will, though.

Edit: can't post a link since I don't have enough posts to do so, but the Euro model (generally the most accurate) is projecting 59 inches of rain in 138 hours, which also means they're projecting the storm to still be in Texas for close to a week.

120 mph now, and it just finished that eyewall cycle. If the eye clears out now, I wouldnt rule out a category 5, the water is warm and theres nothing in its way until the coast

Fortunately, like the economy, Trump can still rely on what he inherited from the Obama administration.  Trump's always been lucky in who he inherits from and claim credit for.

Katrina was a strong 3, and New Orleans is uniquely vulnerable to hurricanes.  Harvey is going to be a disaster, but I doubt it will be at the level of Katrina.
