Since 1992, every Democrat who won Nevada won a few more counties than the Clark County (home to Las Vegas). Every time a Republican won Nevada, the Republican candidate won all the counties except for the Clark County.

Does a Republican victory in Nevada in the presidential elections require at least that the Democrats win only the Clark County or no single county (since the Clark county is barely competitive)?

I suppose a Democrat could win Wash county and still lose the state if the margin in Clark was close enough. A Republican could make a play for the Las Vegas suburbs and drive up rural Clark county turnout.

If Washoe is like 49.9-50.1 to the Dems I'd imagine it's still "possible" to win statewide if the Clark margin is low enough.

Questions like these are dumb.

Yes, absolutely yes.  A Democrat could win Clark by an underwhelming margin and a few other counties and lose the state.

There's no reason why this doesn't work mathematically.

Well, mathematically, the Democrat could win every county except for Washoe and still lose the state.

Yes, and the Republican has to hold the Dem to about <10% in Clark County. It's quite difficult to do.

Anyone who wins "a few" counties in Nevada wins them all...

Even if Democrat only win Clark County, they still sometimes win statewide.

Catherine Cortez Masto defeated Joe Heck in the 2016 Senate election and only won Clark County.

I could see a scenario where the Democratic nominee wins Clark by less than 10% and the Republican nominee wins Washoe by 5-6%. that would be an R win statewide.

^^

See the map PNM linked to.

It's possible but it pretty much has to be a midterm year for turnout in Clark to be low enough.

Are any of the non-Clark, non-Washoe counties still winnable for Democrats?

Probably only if Democrats win the state big.

Mineral County is probably the likeliest to vote Democrat after Clark and Washoe (if you exclude Carson City).  Harry Reid actually won it in 2010 but Trump bested Clinton there 51-39 while Heck won 57-31.

Pretty much, yes. Cortez Masto even won the 2016 senate race only by carrying Clark County.
