That wouldn't be a bad ticket, although a similar idea didn't work out too well for John Anderson and Patrick Lucey in 1980.

That's great and fantastic and all, but these guys would split the anti-trump vote with the Democratic candidate, and we would have a second trump term.

Not interested.

Kasich should primary Trump in 2020 and if he's unsuccessful just endorse whoever the Democratic nominee is.

Both are respectable men, but would only take votes away from the Democratic ticket and hand Trump or Pence another term. Very bad.

Democrats should be the "sane" choice in 2020. I prefer Kamala Harris and some white male dude from the heartland as her running mate. Hickenlooper would be a decent choice.

If Kasich wants to run, he should challenge Trump for the GOP nomination. I'd support him in that effort. But not sure whether he could then run with a Democratic VP.

Would Hickenlooper really commit to it even before knowing who the Dem candidate is going to be?

So they are trying to be what Johnson/Weld wish they could've been.

Thanks for the second term of Trump. Smiley

I'm not so sure this would help Trump. I think there are a lot of moderate leaning Republicans who want to vote against Trump, but cannot bring themselves to vote for a Democrat. I think many of them flirted with the idea of voting for Johnson, but more of less got in line with Trump in the final weeks. This might be a more palatable and better publicized alternative. Would many moderate Democrats vote for a hereto Republican candidate because his running mate is/was a Democrat? Of course Trump is already in trouble so any shakeup to the race might help him, potentially eliminating independent votes, and making it a battle of the parties trying to get their base out.

Assuming this happens, they likely have my vote in 2020.

Assuming no impeachment and Trump runs for reelection, they would likely consolidate Johnson, conservative write-in and McMullin voters, as well as pick up some Romney-Clinton voters and reluctant Trump voters. I could see them break 10% with that coalition

Places where this ticket would run strongest would likely have:
1. Mormonism
2. Swing to Clinton 2016
3. High 3rd party share
4. High Population density

Yeah, this is not a good team unless one of them changes their positions considerably.

Democrats for desperate for a Trump 2020. Hickenlooper is a boring, uninspiring, centrist, dull guy. Hillary Clinton is better than him. This guy is trash & Booker & Harris are better options that him.

So Kasich will be basically increase Trump's reelection odds by a ton all in an effort to "snub" him? Makes perfect sense, John(s)!
Eh, he'd pull about evenly from both, perhaps even with a slight tilt towards picking up would be Trump voters.

After 4 years of Trump, people are going to be starved for an honorable man as President. Kasich fits that bill, although I never want a Republican as President. Still, if he has the backing, then he'll win.

I doubt this will really happen.
Kasich may run again for the Rep nomination, but I doubt he would go for this independent ticket scenario.

I don't see how this would help Trump wins as many say. This would most likely doom him even with Kasich being with a Democrat.

Also, on that note, would Kasich be the presidential nominee?
