Of course not; it's almost pure fat.  I know a lot of low-carb diets like paleo restrict dairy because of lactose, but I think that's a bit overboard.  That said, I do believe a low-carb diet is the best one for health.

Don't ask stupid questions Tongue

Butter is almost purely fat.  There are milk solids in non-clarified butter but they mostly just add flavor, not any meaningful protein or carbs.

Not related to low carb diets, but if you clarify your own butter... let the milk solids "cook" in the butter fat until slightly browned, then strain them and put them on fresh popped popcorn.  Make sure you use salted butter.  It's a treat.

Yes, the consensus is changing after a 30 year holdout of bad ideas that has greatly sickened the U.S. and the west in general.  So much for scientific consensus Wink

I think it comes down to:

A high protein, high carb, low fat diet is okay as long as you're active.

A high protein, medium/high (non-saturated) fat, low carb diet is pretty much okay no matter how active you are.

A high carb, high fat, low protein diet is what everyone seems to eat, especially the poor, and it's a killer.  Every time.  No matter how active... eventually it will catch up with you.

Processed foods are loaded with carbs and fat and low on protein.

So.. prioritize protein first, fat second, and carbs third.

I've cut way back on carbs and nothing else (I've never eaten a lot of sweet things) over the last couple of years and I've lost a few pounds but I feel noticeably better.  Bread is hard to give up as I like sandwiches....a lot.
