Remember when Jeanne Kirkpatrick referred to 'San Francisco Democrats'?   Well, here's another example of their inanities:

I read most of the article and I don't see what this has to do with Democrats...

I don't quite "get" San Francisco.

It votes so similarly to a place like Seattle, yet you rarely see this kind of inane idiocy out of Seattle.

San Francisco is a nice town, as long as you don't discuss politics with about a third of its inhabitants...

Even with Dean Logan 'running' the elections in King county, its no where as far to the left as San Francisco.

County                     Kerry           Bush          Others

San Francisco           83.0%         15.2%        1.8%

King                          65.0            33.7            1.4

If they don't want it, why should they waste $3 million towing it there?

The county of San Francisco consists the entirety of San Francisco County; I was not talking about King County, but the City of Seattle, which gave 80.6% of the vote to Kerry and 17.9% to Bush, according to my records.

There are no Greens on the council?

Just another reason to kick Nancy Pelosi out of the House Minority Leader position, as she is a terrible representation to voters of the Democratic Party.

The federal government is paying for the towing.

It will end up going to another California city which isn't run by nut cases.

What disgusting people on that council. All eight who voted no should be ashamed that they live in an America protected by the sailors that served on the USS Iowa, rather than someone much more deserved than they who will never get that chance. Despicable.

Ok ok.

But I suppose we could look at it like this.

When they voted for mayor, 48% of the city voted Green and 52% voted Democrat. But the Democrat obviously got support from that 15.2% who voted for Bush, so realllly the city is 48% green-minded, 37% democrat, and 15% Republican.

Now, we can all agree that the Greens are crazy.

Seattle is a much smarter city than San Francisco. The insane-liberal faction doesn't even make up 1/5 of Seattle.

I wouldn't say that. Many of the Republicans could've simply voted Green to oppose the Democrats. I doubt 10% of Seattle would indentify themselves as a Green rather than a Democrat, much less almost half of the city.

Haha, I don't think so!!! Honestly, people went into this KNOWING the Green (Gonzales, wasn't it?) had a decent chance at winning.

Jake, ask yourself... If you had to vote either Green or Democrat, and the polls showed that the race was close, would you REALLY vote Green?

About Seattle...I do remember one time about 18% of the city voted Green in a congressional election... That is why I said less than 1/5 of the city is crazy...Because apparently 18% of the people didn't think Jim McDermott was liberal enough for them.

But Seattle has a sane and competent mayor. One who is pro-growth and pro-business. Our city council seems capable as well. As Democratic as the Seattle area may be, anyone can tell you that raising taxes here is very difficult.

it is truly a sad day in America when a ship like this is rejrcted because of views on a different war.

How pitiful.

We in the Camden area cherish our Battleship New Jersey.

I think the actions of these San Fransisco Democrats are quite admirable.  Let inane nationalism and militarism be salivated over in some less self-aware municipality.

So San Francisco doesn't like the right-wingers at the Pentagon. Why is everyone acting ourraged?

Hahaha, no. You can't admit that the far-left "representatives" on that council simply despise our military traditions as a nation. Hopefully, when war with China comes, they have a reason to make San Francisco a target.

Dude, one of Gore's and Kerry's best counties already had close to 3000 people die in it. STFU.

This battleship has nothing to do with the Pentagon or Iraq or anything.  It's about honoring those who have served their country and those that continue to do so.

These people are sick. The world would be better off without them. Mother nature may just do us the favor one of these days.

So would the Democratic Party.  It's people like this that give us a bad name.

It's a question of being a patriotic American.  Just because I think the war was badly executed and misguided does not mean that I don't support the armed forces in any endeavor that they choose to undertake.  The same goes for most Democrats.  Except of course, these idiots.
