I just spent a week in ID and there was history a plenty as well as great recreational opportunities. That's not to dismiss SC, but I'm not sure why you think there are no historical sights in ID.

Personally I would rather visit South Carolina. Last time I went was around 2 years ago to Charleston, it was very nice there although I would eventually like to visit Idaho.

South Carolina has much better weather and beaches, but Idaho has some of Yellowstone in it and a ton of great hiking, so it's close to wash.

Other than historical Charleston they are fairly equivalent from my visits. The places are different in type, Revolutionary and Civil War sites vs exploration camps, mining towns and Indian battlefields but both cover a lot of the same period from the Revolution (or just after with Lewis and Clark for ID) through the the 1800's. I'll grant that there isn't anything in ID that compares to Charleston. Is there something else I'm missing or is just about Charleston?

Well to be fair Charleston and its environs have a lot of things and sites relevant to the Civil War.

And that's not even getting into the Revolutionary War.

Tough choice but ended up voting South Carolina because it's a beautiful state, and beaches  Purple heart

I would love to see Idaho one day, though.

Yeah, both states are cool. Both would be cool to visit.

ID.

Already been to both, so this question is more of- "where would you like to have a repeat visit?"  And the answer is ID, easy.

I'm a big skier, and though I've been to some of ID's more well known locations (like Sun Valley), there are a few more I want to try that I haven't gotten a chance to, due to how remote they are.  Like Schweitzer.  A week would be perfect for this.  Would fly into Spokane this time.  I might actually end up doing this trip for real this winter.

Whereas with SC, I've already seen everything I have an interest in.

Idaho, easily.  As much as I love Graham, Scott, and Haley, they're not very welcome in the GOP anymore.  Idaho has a lot of Mormons and McMullin voters (I voted for McMullin FTR) and some beautiful landscapes, and if I had grown up in California, Oregon, or Washington state I'd have probably moved there for college and never come back except for visits.  And best of all, it's a nice red state for the most part.

Easily South Carolina, it's a beautiful state with lots of history and nice beaches. I'd like to see Charleston in particular.

South Carolina. I almost moved to Rexburg, Idaho once, thought I would want to attend BYU-Idaho but decided against it.

Yes, I agree with overall living, on the condition that it's up in Frank Underwood country (alleged, anyway)

But a nice week or so hitting the slopes in Blaine Co., hiking in Frank Church Forest, a day in Rexburg on the way up to Yellowstone...doesn't sound so bad.

SC, because getting out of Idaho is too expensive.
