Rossi? Really? The perenial loser? Republicans would be smart to nominate someone fresh.
Rossi really you do realize he WON the governors race in 2004 right?
He won the first count and the second count but on third she narrowly won he tried to get 1 last count and the courts said no he is the rightful governor of Washington.
It's been 13 years.

Toss up but tilt republican if Rossi jumps in but the dems seem to have a poor bench so it could very well be likely once we know more.

Still being angry over an election that was 13 years ago is more than a little ridiculous and that's not even the topic of the thread. Move on.

Your party is angry about an election 16 years ago so.....

I would have more faith in our ability to flip this district if our local bench wasn't absolutely pathetic.

In any case: adieu, Congressman. You thwarted us every year, against all odds and all statewide trends.

Strong pickup opportunity, but as also noted the bench is terrible. Pure tossup right now.

Yes. Slight Democratic leaning, but - better Republican bench...

You don't need a "strong bench" for an open House seat,  that's more for statewide elections.

Anyways, according to DRA, Rossi won this district 55-45 during his 2010 Senate run, so if he runs I imagine he wins.

That was in a 4% loss for him statewide. Hardly typical for a Congressional race in Washington. Hard to imagine the 2018 results being that favorable for Republicans. Rossi would have a chance, but no one should be saying that he will definitely win.

Oh, and as far as the Washington gubernatorial race goes, some wise American men were fond of telling me last year "you lost, get over it." I think that may apply here.
You're side lost by 70,000 votes Dino lost by 100ish votes after 3 counts.

This is amazing.

That's pretty much water under the bridge for most people. Besides, "but such and such" is not really a good rebuttal. No one cheated Rossi, he just lost and Gregoire was the better fit for the state.

If you win twice you win you shouldn't have to do 3 counts for the dem to win

Anyways, according to DRA, Rossi won this district 55-45 during his 2010 Senate run, so if he runs I imagine he wins.

Important to remember that was under the old district boundaries, though. The new district is modestly more Republican, and contains more partisan Republicans but fewer Rossi/Reichert Democrats. This makes the district less elastic, and much more likely to deliver a result in the 51-49 range than the 55-45 range either way in an open race.

Well in that case like I said before do one last recount.

The fact is you guys continue to say that 2000 was rigged yet you guys lost because of a candidate who gave up on Ohio and did nothing in New Hampshire just like your candidate in 2016 didn't even go to Wisconsin Dino won twice and since dems *found* ballots she *won* but like I said there should have been only 1 recount but after the result changed do one more count to make sure that it wasn't a fluke.

Most of the complaints about the 2000 election stem from Gore winning the popular vote and Bush barely squeaking by in Florida.    Why does Ohio and New Hampshire have to come into play?

Because gore should have done way better in Ohio and New Hampshire barely went republican yeah Florida was razor thin but Florida is more red then New Hampshire.

This thread has gotten very stupid.

Anyway, people have mentioned that this district is more Republican downballot, but Reichert is Reichert and gubernatorial elections are gubernatorial elections. Anyone know how Murray and Cantwell have fared here?

Murray won it by 52-48 in 2016
Murray lost it 45-55 in 2010
Cantwell won it but her races aren't even real races.

What's the source?

If that's true, then there's some truth to the notion that it's a more Republican district on the downballot level. I'll still call it Tilt D though, since it's a Trump midterm and the trend is toward the Democrats.

Dave's Redistricting, which has 2010 Senate numbers.
