Charge 'em all as adults, attempted murder. Straightforward from there.

Would you classify this as something other than attempted murder?

Why was an 8-year old playing with unrelated 14-year olds?

Definitely the no. 1 takeaway from this for rational people. "Don't let your kids play with the big kids or they might get lynched". Thanks for the quality post, bro.

No, but there is a huge difference between an 8-year old and a 14-year old. Letting young children play unsupervised with much older, bigger teenagers who are not family members is dangerous, not because they might get lynched, but because they could be physically or emotionally abused in other ways by the older children, or participate in activities unsuitable for their age.

I actually 100% agree with this post.

Yeah me too

I don't believe in charging 14 year olds as adults (normal) nor do I jump to assign collective responsibility to a teenager who may have simply been a non-actor in a mob action. Someone ought to be facing that as a juvenile obviously, but the vengeful outrage is hilariously wicked.

If, as is alleged, they tied a rope around a kid's neck and kicked him off a table to strangle him, then there should be severe consequences.

(FWIW I'm leery of hate crime charges in all but the most extreme cases, but I think attempted murder charges are more than appropriate for those involved).
