Well I guess the good news of this is it is an opportunity for the Majority Leaders to take a bigger role.

Bad news, losing both whips is like losing both wings of an airplane, one after another.

<cough>

Having discussed the idea with several of our representatives-elect earlier this week, I suggest the Caucus open nominations for the post of Majority Leader (which office will correspond to the post of Congressional Leader established in the bylaws). As Peebs and I conceived of it, the Majority Leader would be elected by and from the Labor House Caucus, and would have the following responsibilities:

(1) Making sure Labor's representatives are active, voting, and participating in debates
(2) Conducting regular meetings of the House Caucus
(3) Identifying legislative priorities for the 8th Congress, with the advice of the Caucus

In short the Majority Leader would act as a combined floor leader/whip for our caucus in the House. The idea is to bring a greater semblance of organization to the legislative process, so that the full brunt of running the House does not fall at the Speaker's feet.

Unless anyone has an objection, I'd recommend allowing 48 hours for nominations, followed by a vote.

Oh I see, you want to merge the two together sort of. Makes sense.  It also is the logical next step. Seeing as the voting participation has been addressed (assuming it doesn't relapse without Fhtagn and JGibson laser focused on just that), the next area where the house struggles most is composing legislation. Having someone active coordinating that process would be very productive.

With a majority of eligible electors in favor, the motion has been adopted.

In lieu of replacement, J. Gibson is still majority leader for all intents and purposes, though I would encourage the caucus to renew his mandate as soon as possible for the sake of clarity.

Not sure if I can do this anymore as a member of the Peace Party, but I hereby nominate JGibson for (re-)election as Minority Leader.
