People have pointed out that Trump has almost never been seen laughing. Polite chuckles here and there but never an actual, human laugh. Dude is weird.

Sometimes it almost seems like Trump's incredible luck was spent entirely while running for President (defying all odds and conventional wisdom, although he did showed considerable smart in seeing opportunities other candidates didn't or were afraid to touch), and he's totally lost, also on personal level now.

Still, after all we've seen last year, I'm hesitant to just put a cross on him as a political force, whether he's miserable or not. One doesn't necessarily rule out the other.

Even that seemed like a performance laugh. Like, he knows how to work a room, he knows when he should laugh, but it still seems very uncertain if he actually processes humor and gets a genuine urge to laugh.

I really do think, and I'm being as objective as I can in this situation, that Trump does have some real emotional disorders. Not even just going by 3rd party accounts, but by his own admission on so many occasions.

I think you have to be pretty messed-up to want to be President in the first place.

I think you have to be pretty messed-up to want to be President in the first place.

My oldest friend last year got me as a birthday gift a great book by a former editor of cracked dot-com called how to fight presidents. It's a good fun short read with a several page chapter on each deceased president, nothing about Carter the bushes or Obama when it was published, that basically talks about how to physically combate each individual presents based on their upbringing and a parent's psyche. The guy has a degree in history and his underlying Salient point was that presidents have largely run the gamut from oozing confidence and certainty almost to the point of instability, to folks who just were playing f***** in the head. It's a great book and makes the very at point that, yes, you have to be rather off to want to be president, and most of our presidents to some degree were, and a few of them significantly more so.

But frankly, even by that standard Trump has to rank up there with Nixon, LBJ, and Calvin Coolidge ( whom he convincingly made a case for being our most Norman Bates-like president) in terms of being a complete ass whack job.

I strongly recommend watching Trump's review of Citizen Kane: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeQOJZ-QzBk

Makes you realize what a sad idiot he's always been even on matters less related to politics.

Well, the basic goal for being president would/should be to help better the country and its citizens.  That's not messed up at all, but rather pretty noble.

That isn't always the goal of the people running for the office, but sometimes it is.  In Trump's case, it isn't, even though his voters are too brain dead to understand that.

A: "Get yourself a different woman."

That's deep, Donald, so deep.

So every president in US history has been untrustworthy?  Every leader in world history?

To be honest I can't really imagine a more profound misunderstanding of the movie. It kind of IS deep in a way.

I think it would be better stated to never trust anybody who wants to be in charge just for the sake of being in charge.

I wouldn't trust anyone with too much power, no matter who they are. Power can go to anyone's head. It's why we need strong checks and balances.

With that said, I wouldn't automatically distrust somebody for seeking an established position of power. But at the same time, some caution is prudent until more trust has been earned.

Pretty much. It basically talks a massive level of narcissism to even consider running for President, at some level.

I don't know. I think narcissism maybe partly what motivated Trump, but I doubt it's what motivates McConnell. Don't some people just want the power to control others?
