He's a former big city mayor, Governor of a suburban government-friendly state. How does he win in 2020?

The Iowa Caucus Democratic debate has an unfortunate accident and O'Malley called in sick.

In other words: he has no chance lol.

All of the 15-20 other relevant Democrats, and then some - drop off the face of the Earth somehow.

But O'Malley still loses to Winfrey.

How is O'Malley not relevant? He governed as a center-left progressive, instituted climate change laws in Maryland, etc. I see him appealing to New Hampshirites and maybe transplant South Carolinians who retired and lived in Maryland.

The same path Pataki took to become President two years ago.

He as no lane.  Want a progressive? Go for Sanders/Warren/Harris.  Want a moderate? McAuliffe/Biden/Bullock/Bel Edwards. Want someone in between? Gillibrand/Castro/Booker/Cuomo. Those candidates will all drown him out.

Keep himself on the radar by being the most provocative candidate, exceed expectations in Iowa, grow a personality.

Probably by coming out in favor of de jure open borders. He would lose the general to Trump though.

Step 1. Improve public speaking abilities
Step 2. Figure out how to point to track record without coming off as arrogant
Step 3. Wait for the votes to roll in

Kill all other potential candidates Francis Underwood style, hope he doesn't get caught... in other words, he doesn't have a prayer.
