Republicans are "business party," so that they would craft laws to insulate FPL and others from citizens being self-sustaining energy-wise is totally understandable and even should be expected. This is what happens when a party whose agenda is nearly indistinguishable from corrupt interests of big business holds all the power. They work to prevent society from moving in a direction it should be moving in, all to keep people reliant on an unstable service in the name of profits.

If they were truly an honest party of facilitating a free market, they wouldn't craft/enable rules to keep solar usage down, which hurts the solar industry. That they would do this even knowing hurricanes regularly cause long power outages is a testament to how little they care about the market, and how much they care about campaign contributions and cronyism.
