ICE agents have arrested at least 20 people who were staying at two Motel 6 locations in Phoenix, according to an investigative report published Wednesday by the Phoenix New Times. Employees at both motels told the weekly newspaper that they were sharing customers’ personal information with ICE on a regular basis.

“We send a report every morning to ICE — all the names of everybody that comes in,” an unidentified front-desk clerk explained to the New Times. “Every morning at about 5 o’clock, we do the audit and we push a button and it sends it to ICE.” [quote]

I'm no expert, but I thought generally, daily housekeeping meant cleaning up the rooms, not cleaning out the guests.

I'd say "freedom company" but Motel 6's are notoriously shady. Backpage escorts, drug dealers, the like. I've never seen a clean Motel 6 in Florida.

In a just world this would lead to criminal charges.

Gotta love the close collaboration between corporate America and the police state.

This would lead to criminal charges but being an ILLEGAL immigrant wouldn't?

And what about the people who aren't Illegal Immigrants. Why should the Government have their personal information?

The government already has your personal information. Its called the Social Security system and the Social Security Number, which they kind of issue.

Oh, so the hotel chain is asking people for their Social Security number? Seems fishy to me.

In most Western countries, companies can't disclose information about their customers without the approval of said customer or a court warrant. It's a breach of privacy laws.

It would be one thing if they were providing this information to ICE on request, (which ICE cannot indiscriminately do without a warrant) but what is particularly unsavory is that they were going out of their way to violate the privacy of their customers.

So some motel has an ICE button?
Any possibility this "unidentified front-desk clerk" was being sarcastic?

Motel 6 is a great company. Far cheaper than a Marriott or a Hilton but they actually offer more amenities.

I don't like the idea of sanctuary cities, but this degree of helping ICE seems excessive and unsavory.

If you don't favor this, you favor open borders, you favor citizenship on demand.

It's impossible to support any regulation of immigration if you oppose enforcement of those regulations.

That's all this is, basic enforcement.

If you don't want to let every person in Africa move to America, you're going to have to be cool with deporting people, including non-criminals and people who will cry on camera.

If you can't do that, you will end up living in a third world country.

If you support going down this road, where does it end? You are literally talking about a police state. This is not a matter of cooperating with law enforcement, it's a matter of a business indiscriminately turning over unsolicited private information about their customers to the government. If hotel employees were tipping off the police when known fugitives checked in, that would be one thing, but that's not what happened here.

How nice of them to leave the light on at the deportation facility.
