New England and Massechusettes in particular has always been non-interventionist. The Puritans were isolationist, westward expansion was unpopular in New England and Massechusettes in particular, Henry Cabot Lodge was from Massechusettes, New England was one of the most isolationist parts of America leading up to WWII, and Massechusettes is the one state that McGovern won.

The Midwest is also very isolationist, Ohio was Robert Taft's home state and Obama performed extremely well in the Midwest in 2008.

You mean non-interventionists as in they aren't hawkish or non-interventionists as in they don't want the government intervening in the economy?

California.

Besides the weird anti-Carter/pro-Reagan dynamic [not just talking 'bout 1980] and one blip thanks to some effort, there's a reason the state has generally been LEFT of the consensus since 'Nam.

Except for California, curiously enough.

One election result /=/ non interventionist. The mountain west has historically been non interventionist or at least against wars. They voted by such heavy margins for Bush not due to a war or whatever (and the percentage Bush got in those states were not approval of the Iraq War only but an approval and Bush) other nonsense but because Bush was a republican and Kerry was a horrible Democrat to them and these are uber republican states. I was referring more to the Interior West, but yes.

I was thinking about politicians they've elected.

Rand Paul. However, it should be noted that he ran behind Donald "Bomb the oil, take the oil" Trump.

Iowa holds onto some of this. North Dakota, South Dakota, and parts of Minnesota and Wisconsin used to be, because of the context of WWI and WWII.
