Good news for the hurricane-ravaged Gulf Coast and drought-stricken Pacific Northwest:

Just to show the areas of the country that could most benefit from this forecast:

Ugh, not another warm winter. We haven't had a real winter here in Florida since about 2010, and it's incredibly disappointing.

Keep in mind there was a La Nina last fall and early winter as well.  It still meant record rains in California (weaker La Ninas tend to be wetter in northern California and Oregon while stronger ones are wetter further north.  El Nino on the other hand is wetter further south.)

A weak La Nina can mean a lot of variability, though since it is not strong enough to overwhelm the weather patterns.  Other factors could exacerbate or negate the effects it has.

I've never understood why so many people move to Florida for the 'better' weather. I love the 4 different seasons, with the cool crisp fall air and the snow in the winter. In Florida, I would hate the permanent humid heat.

I was born here and have never liked the climate. That's not to say I'd love long, brutally cold winters, but four seasons would be a very nice change.
