Truman over Dewey in 1948 is the biggest upset.

1916 can as well in some ways be considered an upset, when incumbent President Woodrow Wilson defeated Supreme Court Associate Justice Charles Evans Hughes.

An interesting footnote, Hughes was appointed Chief Justice of the United States in 1930, under Hoover.  Hughes led the successful fight against FDR's attempt to pack the Supreme Court, when Roosevelt wanted to appoint additional associate justices in 1937.

Hughes may not have defeated incumbent President Wilson for the presidency in 1916, but he did defeat incumbent President Roosevelt, on the court packing issue, in 1937.

That kind of seems irrelevant.  Being a Republican, I can only think you have some desire to vindicate Hughes' loss NINTY YEARS AGO?

How is Bush over Gore an upset? The only upset is that Gore really won.

1916 should be an option on the poll, though I still vote 1948.
