I love how John McCain is unintentionally protecting the legacy of President Obama.

This isn't even primarily about Obama's legacy.

Correct. I said unintentionally, whatever McCain's reasons are for voting against the replacement bills has inadvertently kept ACA the law of the land. And it will probably stay that way if they will need 60 votes post September 30.

Say what you want about this decision, but there's no doubt he's a lying hypocrite for doing this. He campaigned on repealing Obamacare but won't even vote for the skinniest repeal.

This isn't hypocrisy.  You're implying that he should vote for any repeal.  I have no doubt that McCain is pro-repeal, but he wants to see it done right (by his standards).  He'd almost certainly vote for a "good" repeal, but all of the attempts so far have been "bad" repeals.

He's is probably for the reautomization of our Health Care system the way many Democrats are for socializing it. In favor in principle but probably think it impossible.

I'm starting to wish we did UK style resignations if a president's major policy initiative fails. Especially if his own party is in control. This is essentially a vote of no confidence.

If Pence was President, O-care would be history by now.

Wouldn't have a problem with that if Republicans could come up with a viable alternative

Not going to happen. Modern conservatism is essentially government-sponsored sociopathy: no compassion, no empathy, all me, me, me.

That's not how repealing the mandate causes millions to lose coverage. Some may drop coverage because it's not "required", but most will drop coverage because repealing the mandate introduces adverse selection and the death spiral that drives up rates so that only sick people buy insurance.

Yep.
The media is reporting that McCain and Paul are definite No's.
Collins is heavily leaning No, so that is 3  Pubs against.
Then you have Murkowski who is still on the fence, but IMO more than likely also a No.
Their new bill sounds dead.

Shame on John McCain!  He claims to be pro-life, but he is singlehandedly contributing to the murders of so many babies by voting against our last real chance to defund Planned Parenthood.  I'm ashamed of my party and my country tonight!

What about the people that would die if they lost their coverage? Do their lives not count for anything?

Do you think the Republicans who complained about the "process" of the Obamacare's passage yet have tried repeatedly to pass bills with zero public input and minimal floor debate are hypocrites?

This party is so incapable of governing. I hope this is their last term as the majority party.

Republicans should be ashamed for trying to take healthcare away from millions of people.

Just to be clear ,

it's evil when a policy "threatens" the health insurance plans of 20 million people

but it's ok when a policy threatens to extinguish/dramatically scale back the entire private health insurance market, which currently insures 140 million Americans

Ladies and gentleman, boshembecile is demonstrating one of many idiotic yet terribly effective attacks the GOP will use in the event we actually did put forth any effort to transition to single-payer, though arguably the most preferred attack line from them would focus on how "Democrats raised taxes on people by thousands of dollars per year" - as if people would still be paying for their private plans and the single-payer system simultaneously, or that it wouldn't result in net savings for most people.

Be ready.

How many babies are going to come out stillborn, deformed or injured because their mothers couldn't afford proper healthcare screenings and preventative medicine during pregnancy?

I assume you stop being "pro-life" once a person is actually born, judging by your support for these gop "healthcare" bills.

Those are poor people, so they don't count.

What is really remarkable is that the Republican party is essentially just running against basic logic and somehow are still considered a real political alternative.

I agree with you about Planned Parenthood, but I also think that this whole process is being rushed. Why aren't Republicans taking more time to devise a more effective repeal of Obamacare? Or better yet, why didn't they have a plan ready for the President to sign the moment he entered office? All of this nonsense going on now could have been avoided if they had been prepared.

More importantly, why aren't they going through 'regular order' like they claimed they would?
