I've never liked "watching" politics.....especially since 90% of the time it involves 2 sides argued by several hacks representing only those 2 sides...neither of which represent my side very good at all.  And sports gets a little boring to me every year.

I'd rather play video games (because I like competition and like to be involved in that competition) or take my dogs for a walk than do either, but once those things are done and it's time to relax and let my mind rest, sports is more entertaining to me.

How does one "watch" politics? Are we talking news? Debates? CSPAN?

In any case, sports are much more entertaining.

It has been morally ruinous to our Republic to treat political action as a spectator sport meant only for consumption, entertainment, and affiliation.

How is my team doing? I'd rather watch some boring political show than another season of the Jags falling on their face or my Alma Maters playing terribly.

Sports are way more entertaining and fun, especially as I've gotten more sick of campaigns, cable news, the horserace, etc. I'm still more nerdy about politics though – I find more interesting to read election analysis and results maps than diving into analytics, X's and O's, and fantasy.

this is basically what I was going to post

I mean I like following elections; but its a very different thing than watching a Cricket or Football game or whatever.  The former is much more of an intellectual thing; trying to work out ways of explaining why something happened and why somewhere voted the way it did (plus it makes nice maps); the latter is because its great fun.  Although nothing is funner than actually playing a sport, even if like me you are absolutely terrible at it...

Obviously sports. I'm less interested in politics these days (hence why I post less on this forum), but I watch a whole bunch of soccer games and a few other things as well (most regularly the Falcons).

That's very true. Yet, here we are...

As for the question, I don't even watch sports (although I've taken some interest in American football lately), so obviously politics.

Yes, but many here are interested in coalitions, demographics, the electoral process, campaign strategies, EC strategy, etc.  People who get involved with their political party as if it is a team (I know people like this, for sure) are playing a dangerous game.  I support the Cubs no matter what; I just opposed my party's nominee for President this past November.  Some people have the emotional attachment to their political party that people do to sports teams that their families have cheered for (as outlets and escapes from the more brutal "real world") for generations, and that's messed up in my eyes.

I am just starting to get to know some of the LP candidates and others - maybe I will say politics in the future - but for now still sports - particularly motor racing (F1 and IMSA/Le Mans GT racing) and some football but not as much as pre-2014 when my cable system still allowed streaming access to the SEC Network games which is the predominant telecaster of the games I watch for my Dores. I don't think I will ever be a mainstream CNN, Fox News, MSNBC type watcher. That's not for me.

Sports. I'd much rather watch any of the four major sports than politics. I'm forced to care about politics because it affects me. Sports are just for fun.

I don't even know how a single sport is played. I know a football has to be kicked over a line, a basketball has to be thrown through a hoop, and baseball involves bases, but that's the extent of it.

I hate sports, so it's easy to vote for Politics as the most watchable.

I was once a George F. Will fan, and I like his description of which sport is politics the best comparison to. Will said that politics is much more like baseball than like football. Like baseball, politics is a game you play every day of the week; even the best team in the league loses 65 times a season; it's not a game you can play with your teeth clenched.
