CNN national poll, conducted Sept. 17-20:

http://i2.cdn.turner.com/cnn/2017/images/09/24/poll.-.parties.and.2018.pdf.pdf

Question: “Thinking about Democratic leaders today - which one person best reflects the core values of the Democratic Party?”

This was asked only among Democrats and those who lean Democrat….

Obama 18%
Sanders 14%
H. Clinton 10%
Biden 7%
Warren 6%
Schumer 4%
Booker 3%
Franken 3%
Harris 3%
B. Clinton 2%
Pelosi 2%
Gillibrand, Kaine, Klobuchar 0%
other 6%
don’t know 20%

Big gender gap on H. Clinton, with 13% of women naming Clinton, but only 6% among men.  Sanders was the #1 choice among whites, college graduates, and liberals.

Sanders:
best group: liberals
worst group: over age 45

H. Clinton:
best group: women / over age 45
worst group: men

Biden:
best group: liberals
worst group: Democrats (as opposed to lean Dems)

Warren:
best group: college grads
worst group: non-college grads

5. Thinking about Democratic leaders today - which one person best reflects the core values of the Democratic Party?

Men/Women/White
===== ===== ===== =====
Joe Biden 8/7/8
Cory Booker 5/1/4
Hillary Clinton 6/13/10
Kamala Harris 2/3/3
Bernie Sanders 16/12/15
Elizabeth Warren 7/5/9

Cory Booker also has a skewed gender support, getting 5 times the male support as he is getting female support. Kamala Harris is much more balanced. Booker won't win the nomination unless he does very strongly among Black women, but this shows nothing now.

By Education - Non-College/College

Joe Biden 7/8
Cory Booker 2/5
Kamala Harris 1/5
Bernie Sanders 12/16
Elizabeth Warren 4/10

Warren is not the only one doing poorly among non-college educated folks. Look at Kamala Harris. Her numbers crash, same with Booker. A lot of it will be name recognition but a tremendously skewed number is worrying.

Among Liberals -
 ===== ===== ===== ===== ===== =====
Bernie Sanders 21%
Barack Obama 15%
Hillary Clinton 9%
Joe Biden 9%
Elizabeth Warren 8%
Kamala Harris 6%
Cory Booker 3%

The fall of Cory Booker !!!!!!!!!!!!!

You seem to forget, Bernie's past hasn't been made known to most Democratic voters, or even most voters regardless. He'll be torn apart at some point if he runs in 2020.

Given how recent elections have turned out (both in the U.S. and elsewhere) Bernie might actually get a boost from such attacks.

It would appear that a poster with a middle school sense of humor learned he could change the subject title.

Bernie doesn't reflect the values of the Democratic party. The values of the Democratic party are far too terrible for that.

They're platform is very similar to his values. So I'm curious as to how they are so terrible.....

Increasing the wars from 2 to 7. Passing a health-care plan that was a right-wing heritage foundation plan from the 90s. Record breaking killing of innocent civilians in drone strikes. Not prosecuting any bankers in fault of the 2008 financial crash. Shall i go on?

The Hillary side won most of the battles for the platform that no one reads. The 1956 Republican platform was certainly more progressive.

Interesting to see Booker, Franken and Harris do so well, considering their lackluster name recognition compared to the big guns.

Bernie doesn't reflect the values of the Democratic party. The values of the Democratic party are He is far too terrible for that.

Funny, and certainly ghoulish overkill, but I kinda sorta agree? One of the core values of the Democratic Party would be stressing the details of policy. It was Obama's big argument over Romney in 2012, it's how Obamacare got passed, it was also one of HRC's big selling points, and it's something the GOP lacks. Even the Better Deal thus far seems to focus more on specific proposals than grand, sweeping proclamations. It's also the reason why Democrats aren't as comfortable with ideological purity tests as Republicans. (though we're weaning into it) This is the big disconnect between Bernie Sanders and the rest of the Democratic Party, above all else, for better and for worse.

The party has major blemishes, deportations being the only one that I can't even make a half-hearted attempt to defend or explain, but those aren't its core values. Human beings have flaws, but the worst of said flaws don't define us in the vast majority of cases.

For me personally? If you asked me who best represents the core values of the Democratic Party, I would say Jerry Brown in a heartbeat. Elizabeth Warren, Barack Obama, and Al Franken are other examples for their own reasons, Warren more so for the modern party than the other two.

FDR was one of the most Progressive President's. FDR and Sanders are basically parallel to each other. Of course this is when politics wasn't completely corrupted by money.

I doubt Sanders praised communist rebels and wrote essays about quite some disturbing womens’ fantasies.

Politics was so uncorrupted back then. Instead of rich people funding those who they wanted to be president, rich people ran for president. FDR was crazy rich.

A) You act as if you progressives other than Bernie don't exist.

B) There are a lot of differences between FDR and Bernie, but the only one I really care about it is that FDR's followers didn't see him as an all perfect divine figure.
