Since The Hobbit is now 80, and even the once iconic cartoon is now 40...why not. Also, An Unexpected Journey started off the trilogy five years ago.

So which will it be?

or

The one with the infamous Gollum but otherwise has little to remember besides the CGI, Martin Freeman, and Benedict Cumberbatch as the dragon...and maybe some overreaction here and there.

Or the one with silly songs everywhere, looks like it was made on drugs, has a Gollum that looks more like a frog, and the voices are semi-stilted.

As for me, Rankin-Bass.

To keep it simple: The Hobbit is a simple tale about a hobbit on an adventure, it's a romp. It's not supposed to be a bloated, plodding mess of subplots, odd character arcs,  bizarre foreshadowing, and it's certainly not supposed to forget about The Hobbit and his quest.

Not much a fan of either the LOTR or Hobbit trilogy, but either is still far better than their 1970s cartoon counterparts.
