So, to make it simpler, I decided to start with the PAC-12, and we base the municipal location based upon the City in which the Football Stadium resides:

PAC 12- North:

University of Washington- (UW)- Seattle----    (84.2% D- 8.4% R)                 + 75.8% D
Washington State University-(WSU)- Pullman-  (62,4% D- 22.3% R)               +40.1% D
Stanford- Stanford-Palo Alto--                    (82.5 % D-  12.2% R)                 + 70.2% D
University of California- Cal- Berkley---       (90.4% D- 3.2% R- 4.6% LBT)     + 87.2% D
University of Oregon- U of O- Eugene---     (66 D- 23 R)                               + 43% D
Oregon State University- OSU- Corvallis--- (60.1% D- 27.5% R)                    + 32.6% D

PAC 12 South:

University of Southern California- Los Angeles- LA-    (78.5% D- 16.4% R)          +62.1% D
University of Utah- Salt Lake City
Arizona State University- ASU- Tempe
University of Colorado- Boulder
University of Arizona- U of A- Tuscon
University of California Los Angeles- UCLA- LA         (78.5% D- 16.4% R)          +62.1% D

So sure it looks like most of the remaining PAC-12 Cities voted HRC, except for possibly Tempe, but still interested in the City level results....

We can roll into the American Athletic East and West divisions, and obviously a few are known, such as Houston for example...

Coastal.... we know that Virginia and Pittsburg voted Dem

Big Ten East--- obviously Ohio State and University of Michigan (Columbus and Ann Arbor Dem)

Big Ten West-- Pretty sure the NE and WI were Dem Cities...

Mountain State- BSU def HRC, and possibly Wyoming

We can roll into SEC country, and now it's been established that Tuscaloosa voted Trump, etc....

Edited: Thought I saw a post elsewhere on another thread recently where someone had run the numbers. Instead of just deleting thought it best to leave my original statement, since for a variety of reasons, including close family that lived out there until recently, would love to see someone roll actual results for the City....

So now that it's college football season, anyone want to run some numbers on division I-A teams based upon the location of their home stadium (College/University town/city), so that we can gain a greater understanding of how College Football communities tended to vote in the '16 PRES GE?

Although I've been a College Ball fan for awhile I fully confess that there are many Conferences that I don't follow at all, or am that well versed in, so started with some of the "lists" throwing in some results by City that are publicly available from various sources, have been "vetted" through precinct level '16 analysis by various individuals on the Forum, myself included in various other threads.

One of the fun things about this type of activity is that since there are so many Division I-A College Football teams, it effectively can become a bit of a "treasure hunt" exercise, depending upon one's Conference, Regional, State, interests, and helps to crowd-source these types of research projects!

So, I started which what is obviously to most objective observes THE #1 College Football Conference (Naturally the PAC-12). Not attempting to reignite the decades of controversy within the passionate Fan Base of what is College Football, especially in what is after-all the critical intersection of Professional Sports and Politics (Who would do that ?!?!), we now turn to what some consider to be potentially the 2nd best Conference in College Football, the SEC.....  (Hush now Big Ten and Big 12 fans, I'm not completely sold on that argument).     Wink

Ok---- so all fun and joking aside, here's the list of SEC teams/colleges/cities:

SEC- EAST

Florida- University of Florida- Gainesville, FL
Georgia- University of Georgia- Athens, GA
Kentucky- University of Kentucky, Lexington, KY
South Carolina- University of South Carolina- Columbia, SC
Tennessee- University of Tennessee- Knoxville, TN         (49.9 D- 42.9 R)      +7.0% D
Vanderbilt- Vanderbilt University- Nashville, TN

SEC-WEST

Alabama- University of Alabama- Tuscaloosa, AL
Auburn-  Auburn University- Auburn, AL      (Roll Tide.... Wink)
Texas A&M- Texas A& M University- College Station, TX
Mississippi State- Mississippi State University- Starkville, MS
Ole Miss- University of Mississippi, Oxford, MS
LSU-  Louisiana State University- Baton Rouge, LA
Arkansas- University of Arkansas- Fayetteville, AR

Ok--- Here's a Consolidated list to date to make it easier for individuals that want to run some numbers:

The Point of the thread isn't to make educated statements regarding which Presidential Candidate likely won these various Cities/Towns, since let's face it, HRC likely won most of these places, but likely by smaller margins that Obama '12/ Obama '08.

Still, if we look at "College Football Cities/Towns", it does help us differentiate not only regional variances within the US, but also helps even pull up data that allows us to examine in further detail voting habits of Millennial Voters in College Towns, variances within major College/University Cities in terms of everything from "Upstate/Downstate" dynamics, "Social Class" ("Elite Universities" vs "Middle Class Colleges/Universities), "Race/Ethnicity" especially looking at Southern University communities, etc....

My old buddy Ray who grew up in Tuscaloosa, Alabama in his slow 'Bama drawl basically told me the basic truth about College Football Cities/Towns vs NFL towns, and yes he did did meet Bear Bryant in person while he was pumping gas in Tuscaloosa in the early '70s....

It was something to the effect that College Football is the heart and soul of Football... it is not only the place where young players make their mark regardless of the color of their skin, economic background, religious faith, and family circumstances.

It is rare to see a City where a Professional NFL team and Ranking College team co-exist (Seattle might be one of the exceptions).

The NFL wouldn't exist if it wasn't for student athletes risking long-term injury on the field....  Many Anglo-Americans like myself have become Football fans, despite the greed and money and shadow of it's former self that the NFL has become, where now we need to spend hundreds of dollars for a nosebleed seat for two, when back in the days before the College Football went Uber Greedy, one could buy tickets in the Student seating for $10/person.

Rant aside--- Football is a uniquely American Sport (Sorry my friends from every other country in the World where football= soccer). College Football cities/towns in many ways represent shifting electoral patterns and social-demographic changes....   When I was a Teenager in the late '80s, the University Precincts tended to be the most Republican precincts, other than the Upper-Income precincts in the Hills to the North of town....

One last note to end on, is that frequently individuals from smaller and medium-sized cities tend to gravitate towards their local colleges and universities after they graduate from High School. It's a bit of a point of pride for us small town/city residents to be able to point to local athletes that went to the same High Schools that we did, that are extremely talented, that chose to stay local, and still remain successful in the next level of their careers....

West Lafayette/ Purdue = Clinton 8286 57.47 % ; Trump 4754 32.97%
I took Wabash township aside from the four most rural precincts, so this is approximate. Tippecanoe County voted for Trump overall.

I'll get the numbers when I'm not on vacation, but Iowa City would have gone to Clinton in a landslide.  There were only a few Trump precincts in all of Johnson County ... ironically, one was this wealthy neighborhood of lake houses by Lake Macbride where one of my most liberal friends lives.  Even as a Clinton voter myself, I love referring to his neighborhood as TRUMP COUNTRY when we go hang out there, LOL.

UPDATED: Mid-American East now confirmed as well as Columbus , OH (Big Ten East).

Also in includes the data from Moscow and Laramie for updated totals.

Here are a few more results from some work that reagente did on the largest City to vote for Trump by State thread.... don't believe I attributed credit on the Colorado Springs numbers, so wanted to put that out there.

Utah:

Salt Lake City (#1) is obviously Clinton.

West Valley City (#2) confirmed Clinton. (41-32)

Provo (#3) confirmed Trump by precinct summation:

Trump - 12,680
McMullin - 11,419
Clinton - 6,277

Colorado

Denver (#1) is obviously Clinton. Colorado Springs (#2) confirmed by Precinct Summation

Trump: 119,639 (53.01%)
Clinton: 82,849 (36.71%)

https://uselectionatlas.org/FORUM/index.php?topic=272471.msg5835829#msg5835829

I did go back and pull the '16 precinct numbers for Utah County myself, since I get a bit OCD at times, and wanted to include the non-McMullin 3rd Party votes into the percentages....

So...

FBS Independents:

BYU- Provo, UT:    6,277 HRC (19.2% D), 12,860 (39.4% D), 11,419 McMullin (34.9%)     +4.5% R

Logan Utah: 4,455 HRC (28.1% D),   5,392 Trump (34.0% R), 4,675 McMullin (29.4% I)    +4.6% R

Interestingly enough, HRC performed much better than in Provo (BYU) and actually came close to McMullin....

Not very familiar with this town nor University, but I always thought Cache County was essentially part of the largest chunk of the Mormon belt in UT, literally right across the state line from SE-ID.

Any observations on the Provo vs Logan results in Utah in major College Football cities?

I think we all expected SLC to be heavily Dem, although I was a bit surprised by the margins tbh, but still wondering if anyone has some reasons as to why Logan was much more Democratic than Provo, and both Trump and McMullin performed significantly worse than they did in Provo.....

A bit of a tangent, but the only states where the flagship university was in a city/town that possibly voted for Trump were:

ND - U of North Dakota - Grand Forks
AK - U of Alaska-Fairbanks - Fairbanks
OK - Oklahoma U - Norman
AR - U of Arkansas - Fayetteville
MS - U of Mississippi AKA Ole Miss - Oxford
AL - U of Alabama - Tuscaloosa
WV - West Virginia U - Morgantown

Good call on Ole Miss.... Oxford, MS....

Ran the numbers....

SEC-WEST:

Ole Miss- University of Mississippi- Oxford MS

Oxford, MS:

HRC: 5,807 Votes (45.5% D), DJT: 6,339 Votes (49.7% R)           +4.2% R

SEC WEST:

Mississippi State University- Starkville, MS

5,538 HRC (49.8% D), 5,047 Trump (45.4%)         +4.4% D

There are a few split precincts in the County, but these are the best numbers I could find....

While I'm working on Mississippi....

CONF USA- WEST:

University of Southern Mississippi

Hattiesburg, MS

8,916 HRC (63.2% D), 4,641 (32.9 % R)        + 30.3% D

Now, when working through the precinct results, what really stands out are the extreme racially polarized election results....

So Hattiesburg is 58% African-American, and accounts for a huge chunk of county votes... meanwhile roll over the city lines to Petal, Mississippi which is only 23% Black (83% Trump- 14% HRC).

It essentially wiped out the HRC vote lead within the County....

Then the rural and Uninc areas kick in (73% Trump and 25% HRC), and essentially made the County look like a landslide overall, despite the University City voting heavily Dem in '16.

Your guess was a bit off with the University of Arkansas....

This one got me a bit curious because of the key roll that Arkansas played in the struggle against White Supremacist rule in the Deep South, starting with the Little Rock Nine back in '57... (Picture below), and how that struggle for racial educational equality directly translated into integration at the University of Arkansas (Link Below)....

https://news.uark.edu/articles/10904/pioneers-of-the-civil-rights-movement-african-american-lawyers-in-arkansas-before-1950

Obviously as a college football fan, I remember watching the legendary triple OT win in '07 when the Razorbacks beat LSU in a key SEC game that even for non SEC fans were keenly watching....

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1oTE31QcWMY

So....

SEC WEST:

THE University of Arkansas

Fayetteville, Arkansas....

18,519 HRC (54.2% D), 12,206 Trump (35.7%)       + 18.5% D

The main reason that Trump won the County by decent margins were votes from Springdale, as well as smaller cities/towns and rural precincts in Washington County.
