Not a what-if per se, but I don't see it causing a major backlash.

I started it because I saw a surprising amount of Douglas votes in the 'who would you have voted for' thread in the History section, more than usual.

in 60 i would have voted Lincoln all the way. in 64, i would have been one of the world's biggest supporters of Mclellan. I am a personal fan of Mclellan, so i dont think there was anyone the reps. couldve run to make me vote otherwise

Lincoln.  The costs of keeping the Union together would have been too high in moral terms.  This assuming I didn't have the hindsight of knowing that voting Lincoln would have cost over 600,000 lives.
